Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessie Agrimis.
Hi Jessie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a neurologic physical therapist and I work with individuals with conditions such as Spinal Cord Injury, Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, and Parkinson’s Disease. After years of working in insurance-based hospital systems, I became frustrated by the limitations and restrictions due to insurance. Many of my patients had to be discharged from physical therapy well before reaching their goals due to limitations in their coverage. We started NeuroLab 360 as a nonprofit organization offering cash-based specialized therapy so that our clients are not limited in the care they receive due to their insurance or financial situation. As a nonprofit, we fundraise via grants, sponsors, and private donors in order to provide scholarships for therapy for those unable to afford the care that they need.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One challenge has been getting the word out about our services. When someone is discharged from traditional physical therapy, we want them to know that they can come to NeuroLab 360 to continue their recovery!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At NeuroLab 360 we provide rehabilitation and wellness services to individuals with neurologic conditions such as Spinal Cord Injury, Stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, and Multiple Sclerosis. We provide 1:1 physical therapy, group exercise classes, a virtual membership, education seminars, speech therapy groups, and more. Our clinic is different from other physical therapy clinics because we are not limited by insurance restrictions and can work towards each individual’s goals rather than what insurance deems to be medically necessary. We recognize the need for specialized neurologic care in our community but also acknowledge that these services are not accessible to everyone due to the cost. As a nonprofit, we provide free services such as Parkinson’s group exercise classes, a wheelchair skills class for manual wheelchair users, an aphasia group, and a Loud Crowd which is a speech maintenance group for people with Parkinson’s. We additionally provide scholarships for one-on-one physical therapy to those in need. In addition, our physical therapists have extensive training in neurologic physical therapy are a Board Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialists.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was always interested in sports and also knew that I wanted to work in the medical field in some capacity.
