Hi Joe , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in a tight-knit Latin household in Southern California, raised by my mom with my two aunts, grandma, cousins, and older brother. Yerba mate was a daily staple in our family passed that fueled our energy and family bond.
My mom’s incredible grit shaped me most. She fought stage four cancer while working three jobs to provide for us until I graduated high school.
That resilience inspired Sacred Dose. I wanted to share the natural benefits and vibrant culture of Yerba mate with the U.S. in a traditional and modern way. Besides our organic loose leaf Yerba mate, we proudly created our nicotine-free pouches blending Yerba mate with L-Theanine and Alpha GPC for a clean, focused energy without the crash.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a completely smooth road, creating a brand and product from the ground up always comes with obstacles. We’ve faced supply chain hiccups, formulation challenges, regulatory hurdles, and the usual growing pains of building distribution and awareness.
But I view every struggle as a learning experience. Those tough moments force you to refine the product, improve processes, and get clearer on what really matters. At the end of the day, it always seems to work out and we usually end up with an even better, stronger version of Sacred Dose because of it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sacred Dose LLC?
Sacred Dose started as a simple idea between three friends who all have deep roots and ties to South American culture. We grew up with Yerba mate as a daily part of life sharing it for energy, focus, and connection and we wanted to bring that authentic experience to the U.S. in a traditional and modern form.
What we do is create premium, loose leaf organic and unsmoked Yerba mate. We didn’t stop there cause we’re proud to be the very first Yerba mate oral pouch company, pioneering this category from day one.
We’re most proud that we never cut corners. From the bold artwork and premium bag designs to the high-quality pouches and the mate blend inside, everything was built with uncompromising quality in mind.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I’m definitely not someone who jumps into risks recklessly, but I do believe calculated risk-taking is essential for growth, especially when building something from scratch like Sacred Dose.
The biggest risk I’ve taken was to go all-in on this idea with my two friends. We had no guarantees, limited funding, and we were entering a pretty niche space as the first Yerba mate pouch brand. That meant betting on ourselves, our product, and the belief that people would embrace a cleaner, more cultural alternative to traditional energy options.
It felt scary at times, especially during the early days of formulation, manufacturing delays, and figuring out distribution, but I saw it as a necessary step to turn our shared passion into something real.
Risk is about weighing the downside against the potential upside and asking: “If this works, will it have been worth it?” If the answer is yes and the foundation feels solid, I’m usually willing to move forward. Most of the time, the real risk is in standing still and never trying.
Overall, I think thoughtful risks, backed by preparation and belief, have been key to where we are today, and I’m grateful we took them!
