Today we’d like to introduce you to John Park.
Hi John, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story began with a simple belief: clothing should be more than something you wear—it should be something you own, in every sense of the word. I was fascinated early on by the art of tailoring—how a well-constructed suit could transform not only appearance, but presence. That fascination became a calling.
Over 18 years ago, I founded Zeglio Custom Clothiers to fill a gap I saw in menswear: a true, accessible bespoke experience built on craftsmanship, luxury materials, and individualized service. What started as a small workshop has evolved into a global brand, with nine locations including our flagships in San Diego, La Jolla, Irvine, Chicago, and Beverly Hills.
Today, we serve a broad spectrum of clients—but a significant part of our work is with executive-level professionals, high-net-worth individuals, and discerning grooms preparing for one of the most important days of their lives. We specialize in luxury wedding suits and tuxedos, offering both classic and modern interpretations. For many of our wedding clients, it’s not just about looking sharp—it’s about capturing a memory in cloth. We take that responsibility seriously.
We create every garment from scratch, incorporating over 45 individual measurements, along with considerations like shoulder slope, posture, body shape, and lifestyle. Our patterns are drafted to reflect not just physical form, but also personal essence. Whether it’s a midnight navy peak lapel tuxedo for a sunset wedding in Malibu, or a hand-stitched three-piece suit for a private villa ceremony in Tuscany, our work is designed to match the scale and elegance of the occasion.
Our commitment to quality means we use only the finest fabrics in the world—from Loro Piana, Scabal, Dormeuil, and Holland & Sherry for suits and tuxedos, to Alumo, Albini, and Thomas Mason for shirts. These partnerships allow us to offer clients not just style, but longevity and performance in every piece.
Whether we’re working with a groom, a CEO preparing for a keynote, or a client building a wardrobe from the ground up, our focus remains the same: to create clothing that fits you—not just your body, but your ambitions, your values, your story.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not a smooth road—and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Building a bespoke tailoring business from the ground up, especially in markets like the U.S., where fast fashion and ready-to-wear dominate, came with a unique set of challenges.
In the early days, one of the biggest hurdles was educating customers on what “true bespoke” really means. Many assumed custom meant altering something off the rack or selecting from pre-made templates. We had to show people—sometimes one client at a time—that bespoke tailoring is about creating something entirely from scratch, based on their exact body, style, and preferences. That kind of transformation takes time, skill, and trust.
Another challenge was scaling without compromising quality. As we expanded to cities like San Diego, Chicago, La Jolla, Irvine, and Beverly Hills, maintaining consistent standards in craftsmanship, service, and culture across all locations became a top priority. Each city has its own fashion identity and clientele expectations, so we had to adapt locally without losing our core identity.
And of course, like many businesses, we faced major disruptions during the pandemic. Weddings were postponed, travel halted, and in-person fittings became impossible for a time. But in those moments, we leaned into resilience and innovation—offering virtual consultations, fabric preview kits, and flexible scheduling. Those hard times taught us how to evolve while staying true to our roots.
Every challenge shaped us. I truly believe it’s the struggles that taught us who we are and pushed us to become better—not just as a brand, but as people serving other people.
We’ve been impressed with 45, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Zeglio Custom Clothiers is a bespoke tailoring house dedicated to creating garments that are as unique as the individuals who wear them. Our mission is simple yet profound: to help our clients look and feel their absolute best—whether it’s for their wedding, a major business milestone, or simply everyday excellence.
We specialize in fully bespoke suits, tuxedos, sport coats, trousers, and shirts, crafted from scratch based on each client’s body, posture, and lifestyle. What makes us different is our process—we take over 45 individual measurements and factor in nuances like shoulder slope, arm rotation, and body balance. From there, we draft a pattern that is 100% unique to that client, ensuring a truly personalized fit.
We’re proud to offer some of the finest fabrics in the world, including Loro Piana, Scabal, Dormeuil, Holland & Sherry for suits and Alumo, Albini, and Thomas Mason for shirts. These are mills known not only for quality but for heritage and innovation, and we partner with them to offer fabrics that perform just as beautifully as they look.
One area we’re especially known for is luxury wedding attire. We’ve had the honor of dressing countless grooms and groomsmen for the most important day of their lives. Whether it’s a timeless black tuxedo or a modern peak lapel suit in a bold color, we design with intention and emotion. We also work closely with high-level professionals—executives, lawyers, creatives—who understand that their wardrobe is an extension of their personal brand.
What truly sets us apart, though, is our commitment to service and craftsmanship. From the first consultation to final fitting, we provide an experience that is highly personalized, educational, and warm. We don’t just sell suits—we build long-term relationships and help our clients define their style over time.
At Zeglio, we believe a great suit can change how a person feels about themselves. It can give confidence, presence, and identity. That’s the impact we aim to make—with every needle, every stitch, and every client.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is that mentorship doesn’t always come in the form of one person—it often comes in moments, conversations, and even challenges. I’ve had the privilege of learning from people who never officially called themselves my “mentor,” but who deeply shaped the way I think, lead, and create.
If you’re looking for a mentor, my biggest advice is: start by being genuinely curious and humble. People are far more willing to share their knowledge when they sense you’re not just looking for an advantage, but really trying to grow. Ask thoughtful questions, listen more than you speak, and don’t be afraid to reach out to someone whose work you admire—even if it feels a little out of reach.
For me, networking has worked best when it’s authentic. I’ve never believed in transactional networking. Instead, I try to build relationships where we can exchange value—not just business, but ideas, feedback, and mutual support. Some of my best collaborations and partnerships have started with a simple, honest conversation.
Also, don’t underestimate the value of learning from your peers, your team, or even your customers. Sometimes the best insight doesn’t come from someone “above” you, but someone right beside you.
In the end, mentorship is not just about finding the right person—it’s about becoming the kind of person others want to invest in.
