Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Ko.
Hi Jordan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up, most of my summer jobs and volunteer opportunities involved supporting and connecting with kids. I majored in Child Development at Tufts University and studied abroad in Denmark, focusing on children with special needs and exploring Denmark’s unique philosophy on childhood and well-being. As I deepened my studies, I began to reflect on my own upbringing with new insight. My childhood was shaped by a family member whose remarkable strengths, which I saw as “superpowers,” and significant challenges in daily routines and social interactions, shaped my earliest understanding of neurodiversity and neurodivergence. My mother, a developmental-behavioral pediatrician, taught me that there are different kinds of minds and to believe in the capability of each child. Looking back, I realize that I often served as a peer model for my loved one, helping bridge gaps and foster social connections. Through my training as a psychologist, I gained an awareness of and appreciation for the significance of this role and the power of supportive relationships to drive growth.
I completed my Ph.D. at UC Santa Barbara and held clinical and research roles at UCLA, Rady Children’s Hospital, and San Diego State University. While my experience spans a wide range of clinical needs, my specialization has centered on supporting neurodivergent children and their families across the pediatric lifespan. I am deeply grateful to my mentors at each stage of my career, whose guidance helped transform my passion into a purposeful profession.
After several years of working in academic medical centers, clinics, and private practice, I founded Kozy Kids Psychology in 2025 to help families seeking support for autism, ADHD, anxiety, mood concerns, and other social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. My approach is strengths-based and collaborative, focusing on partnering with families, building skills and confidence, and honoring each child’s unique abilities.
Becoming a parent myself deepened my empathy and understanding of the hopes, worries, and joys that come with raising a child. My hope is that every family I work with leaves feeling seen, empowered, and understood. I strive to provide the same sense of support that made such a difference in my own life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of my biggest challenges has been transitioning from established institutions and clinics to founding my own practice. Building Kozy Kids Psychology has required not only clinical expertise but also learning the complexities of running a business and creating a supportive community. Balancing these new responsibilities with my commitment to high-quality clinical care meant navigating a learning curve and new demands, but it has pushed me to expand my skill set and seek guidance from mentors and colleagues.
A close friend reminded me of the importance of “betting on yourself” – advice that became a turning point in my journey. Starting my own business has been the most significant way I have invested in myself. It has involved taking risks, managing uncertainty, adapting and persevering, and balancing work with other important roles in my life. In many ways, this journey has challenged me to embody and practice the evidence-based strategies and principles I help children, teens, and families develop in my care.
Through this experience, I have found that building a practice grounded in my values, providing personalized and thoughtful clinical care, and fostering collaborative partnerships is deeply rewarding. I am incredibly grateful to my supportive family, friends, mentors, and colleagues who encouraged and empowered me to bet on myself.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Kozy Kids Psychology?

I draw on my lived experiences and professional training to help families raise confident, capable children. I value collaboration with schools, pediatricians, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support across settings. The name “Kozy Kids Psychology” reflects my commitment to helping children, teens, and families feel comfortable as they grow and develop skills for life. A play on the word “cozy” and my last name “Ko,” the name supports my mission to provide a warm, supportive clinical environment where children and teens can embrace who they are and find comfort, even when facing life’s challenges.
