Hi Juliana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story with medicine began long before I ever formally studied it — in fact, it started when I was just a child. I grew up in a simple, yet wonderfully supportive family in Brazil, where I already dreamed of becoming a doctor. I didn’t know exactly how I would achieve it, but I was certain that one day I would find a way.
I began my journey by studying Physical Education in Brazil, earning my bachelor’s degree. That experience became a bridge into the world of health, giving me my first insight into the human body and what truly sustains wellbeing.
Around that time, I met my husband, Dr. João Pedro Trabulci, who had moved to the United States as a child. His story is one of perseverance — overcoming the many challenges of being an immigrant and building a life through hard work and study. Our paths aligned not only personally but also professionally, and together we shared the same vision of medicine: one that is humanized, compassionate, and centered on respect for each individual.
After many years of dedication — 15 years living in the U.S. for me, and more than 25 for him — we finally reached a milestone we had both dreamed of: opening the first Humanum Clinic. It represents the realization of years of effort, adaptation, and resilience — overcoming language barriers, distance from home, and every obstacle along the way.
But this is only the beginning. Humanum Clinic is the first step in a much larger dream — to expand a model of care that combines science, naturopathic medicine, and true human connection, bringing healthcare back to what it should always have been: centered on people.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Building a life and a career in a new country came with many challenges. For me, it meant learning a new language, adapting to a completely different culture, and being far from the family and home I had always known. For my husband, it meant giving up the simple joys of his childhood — the carefree days spent playing in the streets of his neighborhood — to arrive in a country where he was a stranger to everyone.
Despite all of this, I never doubted that we would succeed. Every obstacle — from paperwork and licensing hurdles to the everyday challenges of starting a new life and business — became part of our story, shaping our resilience and determination. Looking back, those struggles made opening Humanum Clinic not just an achievement, but the realization of a lifelong dream built on perseverance, love, and vision.
