Today we’d like to introduce you to Kassi Tompkins.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My background is in event production and design, primarily in entertainment, hospitality and arts & culture. I’m from San Diego but spent many years in Portland, Oregon where I met Delia Tethong and Jenna Winkler who produce Portland Bazaar. Once I made my way back home to SD, I started dreaming up what it would look like to bring the Bazaar to our community and luckily Jenna and Delia were on board. The Bazaar supports local community and economy of makers, artists and businesses with live DJs, food and beverage vendors and dozens of booths for shopping local.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Events in a post covid world has had its challenges but what we’ve found is when you move with authenticity and care for others, and hustle of course, things tend to fall into place.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
SD Bazaar is a seasonal weekend market that pops up on Saturday and Sunday. It’s free and all ages with local artists, vendors, food and drinks, workshops and vinyl DJs all weekend long. I’m proud to be supporting our community and fostering space for like minded folks to gather.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Authenticity and follow through.
