Community Highlights: Meet Kelsey Smith of Paws 4 Motion

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Smith.

Hi Kelsey , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started thinking about my business when Covid started, so I knew I was not going to get it started when I wanted. However, I took my time setting everything up and getting prepared to start my business. I started with one client, and it slowly grew to more within a few months. I am still fairly new with my business, but I now have several consistent clients.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. Covid, of course, threw many things off, including obtaining my CCFT (Certified Canine Fitness Trainer) certificate. I have been involved in a few events, which did not get me any new clients. I feel like marketing and getting my name out there, has been the hardest challenge with owning my own business.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Paws 4 Motion ?
I do fitness and strength training for dogs. I help senior dogs to keep moving and maintain their strength in their older years. I help dogs that do agility to maintain their strength and keep them fit to continue their agility career. I also help adult dogs to exercise and puppies to start getting used to fitness training. I am set apart from others because I am a Registered Veterinary Technician and I am also a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner on top of my Certified Canine Fitness Trainer certificate. I take a lot of pride in the fact that all the dogs I work with, I treat like my own and celebrate their success as much as their owners do. I want the readers to know that I can help many dogs with their fitness needs and to help them strengthen their muscles and maintain their strength.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I believe that this industry can grow and be a larger part of the animal community in 5 to 10 years. It is just a matter of educating the public about the importance of exercising their dogs and to start it early on in the dogs life.
