Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystalynn Williams.
Hi Krystalynn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey began in 2012 when I earned my Master’s in Counseling Psychology and became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). Initially, I worked in nonprofit and education settings, providing behavior support and therapy for children and families. This work ignited my passion for mental health and wellness, particularly in underserved communities.
In 2018, I became a mom, and that experience significantly deepened my understanding of the challenges that many mothers face, especially when it comes to mental health. It inspired me to work more closely with women and families, helping them navigate anxiety, depression, and the complexities of family life.
In 2022, after the birth of my second son, I made the decision to move into private practice. This shift allowed me to create a space where I could offer more personalized care, focusing on women, particularly mothers, and their mental wellness. I transitioned from a one-on-one therapy model to incorporating group coaching, workshops, and speaking engagements, which allowed me to reach more people and have a greater impact.
Today, Krystal Clear Mind is not just a therapy practice—it’s a community where women, especially women of color, can find connection, healing, and empowerment. I’m excited about expanding into digital products and online courses to continue to serve and support my clients in new and innovative ways.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It certainly hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but the bumps along the way have been invaluable in shaping where I am today. One of the biggest struggles early on was navigating the balance between growing a business and maintaining a healthy family life, especially after becoming a mom in 2018. The pressures of motherhood, combined with the demands of building a private practice, often left me feeling overwhelmed. There were moments where I questioned if I could truly do it all, and balancing my work with my personal life became a constant challenge.
Another significant hurdle was the shift from a traditional therapy model to something more expansive—incorporating group coaching, workshops, and speaking engagements. This required a leap of faith, as I had to trust in my vision and the new direction, even though it was a big transition and not without its uncertainties. Learning to scale my services and create digital products while staying connected to my clients in a meaningful way has been a process of trial and error.
Additionally, as a woman of color in the mental health space, I’ve encountered my own unique set of challenges related to race and cultural responsiveness, both in my work with clients and in establishing my business. Navigating those conversations with authenticity and respect has been incredibly important, and at times, it’s felt like a continuous learning process.
Despite the challenges, these experiences have been essential in helping me refine my approach and find deeper meaning in the work I do. Each obstacle has only strengthened my resolve to build a practice that truly supports women, mothers, and families.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
