Today we’d like to introduce you to Lenka Holman.
Lenka, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In the early 2000s, I went through massive changes that made me decide what I really wanted to prioritize and contribute to people’s lives, instead of just getting a paycheck. I quit my job and started as an intern in the financial field. It gave me the freedom to be a Girl Scout Leader and primarily a mom, while still earning a living. I got a long list of recognitions and designations which included Certified Financial Educator and Top Performing Family Advocate in Forbes Magazine, all under the Wealth Wave banner.
While I love what I do, it’s really why I chose the finance field that keeps me going through the tough times. I’ve seen 401k’s become 201k’s. I’ve watched families be lied to and as a result, lose their homes. I’ve been one of the first phone calls after a loved one dies. Interestingly enough, when a horrible thing happens people don’t ask about death benefits; they want to know that someone will be there for them through everything. Absolutely none of this has to do with money. Too much of society is focused on the bottom line and how they are perceived.
I’m in this business because the world of money … when understood, has the power to make families feel safe. I couldn’t agree more that money can’t make you happy. However, the lack of money can make someone miserable.
I absolutely love educating people on how they can invest their time, talents, and treasure into a Life WORTH Living.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When starting as an entrepreneur, I had to learn everything from marketing to product to time management. Weeding through all the offers of” XYZ is the magic solution to growing a business”. I found that there is no substitute for being consistent with your mission and simply staying in business. Some people want to work with a person who has been in business for several years. It takes a long time to build a reputation. I think the most important decision I’ve ever made was to align myself with like-minded professionals. Kingdom Advisors helps professionals integrate their faith into their practice. Professionals who were on the floor of the stock exchange during Black Monday helped me put things into perspective so I wouldn’t repeat their mistakes. Secondly, Connected Women of Influence is an incredible networking organization that I will stay with. Having a group of professionals with business experience has been priceless. Business is business regardless of industry, and being around successful women with integrity will offer answers regardless of the challenge.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My “day job” is as an educator with Wealth Wave: The How Money Works Company. Actively educating people and finding solutions to money problems is something I can do at any income level. I’ve gotten to the point in my career where I have chosen to work with people who are focused on putting their values in alignment with sound financial principles. Anyone who just cares about a quick buck will always find some salesperson with a magic bullet. Not my ideal client. I’m looking for people with values who want more out of life. Entrepreneurs with a dream, socially responsible investors, parents who want to prioritize being mentors instead of providing toys that will just end up in a landfill… Now those are people I’ll fight for. What fills me the most is my Life Worth Living brand of public speaking and coaching other speakers. I’ve used it to help a number of SUE talks presenters, which are on YouTube. I’m available for speaking engagements to inspire groups who prioritize values while pursuing solid business growth.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
While Covid expanded my world and increased my client base by several states, I know the most important thing we have is human connection.
