Community Highlights: Meet Lisa Monday-Gomez of Whatever68 Radio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Monday-Gomez.

Lisa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2012 after working with other internet radio stations I saw a lot of independent artists being left behind and I wanted to do a live radio show nothing pre-recorded that was nearly impossible so I decided to build my own internet radio station where I can do live shows and give any and all independent artists airtime, I then built Whatever68 Radio.

I had also been writing interviews at another internet station that was randomly let go then my friend Ginger said I can contribute my interviews at her online magazine Punk Globe I decided to do that to give the artists even more exposure. I started with 3 Dj’s who all left a year later now there is a full team with a couple of live DJs daily bringing all kinds of music to your ears. I got here by working hard, marketing, and meeting new people.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wish! Great things are never easy I have had to deal with a lot of rejection and hate, with people going to all measures to close us down, Finding the best DJs who are willing to work with the whole team I now have that. Also marketing and gaining listeners. I’m not one to ever give up easily so each struggle to me means working harder.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We work with independent artists from all around the world streaming their music helping them promote their projects at times helping them find shows pretty much anything they need.

We are known for bringing you the best indie music worldwide, we never turn bands away if they ask for airplay/help they get it is what sets us apart. I am most proud of the team we have at WE68 so many different shows from all over the world. Check us out and tell all your friends the more people who can hear these amazing artists the better for them.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Not everyone is really your friend or wants you to succeed never tell your plans! Not everyone is willing to do for you as you do for them just cherish the ones who do.

People will talk and that’s ok, either way, they are thinking about you.

Working together is better. After being sober from booze for 9+ years I have found sober is also better!
