Community Highlights: Meet Mim Na Chiangmai of Soulzential

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mim Na Chiangmai.

Mim, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all started with my self-discovery journey. I was searching for something more meaningful in my life. Something that could give me sense of freedom while creating impact for others. I love patterns & textiles and since my mom loves to sew, the idea for Soulzential came to me one day on a trip to Thailand. We collaborated and launched it right away. We launched it before we felt ready, hoping the experience would teach us to become stronger as a brand and it sure did. Moment after moment, empowering decisions mixed with bad ones, I am grateful for all of them because they have helped me shape Soulzential to where it is today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been an easy road. It’s probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Running my own business has revealed everything that holds me back from becoming the best version of myself, and it’s something I have to work through. Fears and the unknown often show up, as well as a lot of triggers that take me out of alignment.

For example, it revealed the unconscious beliefs that I have about myself, the relationship around money, and relationship with others. It boils down to the inner work that you have to heal.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Soulzential?
I am the owner of Soulzential, handmade bohemian clothing-inspired Southeast Asia. I design products in Oceanside, CA and my mom and her team handmade it in my hometown, Chiang Mai, Thailand

Creating handmade clothing that is super unique and infused with Southeast Asian culture with my mom as the head of seamstress. Also, my customers are my tribe, supporting Soulzential’s vision and journey, and I think that sets it apart from others.

Right now, I’m most proud of the small moments and the relationship that I have with our customers. Like when our customer smile and say, “That’s exactly what I have been looking for!” Or “I come to this event just for you!”. Building a brand is building relationships, and when you build good relationship, you create impact.

In Soulzential, we value slow fashion and aim to create timeless, high-quality pieces. Each item is designed in small batches and NEVER mass-produced. As we evolve, our mission is to create a positive impact on our environment and provide jobs for local families. We aim for integrity and long-term sustainability for a better + cleaner future.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk, in my definition, is the “unknown.” It’s something you have never done before. By just thinking about it, I can sense my body responding certain way, i.e., heart beating fast, goosebumps, etc… And sometimes my mind imagines the worst-case scenario based on my belief system around the unknown.

It’s is normal to have fears around taking risks because you have never been to this territory before. It’s the ego that wants you to stay safe. Because the ego has evidence that you have done pretty “okay,” you are still “alive” by doing the exact same thing you have been doing. So having fear around risk is a good thing. It’s the first actualization to step into the unknown which is infinite of possibilities. I used to have so much fear around it and used to be afraid to take risks. But now I understood that it is here to help me grow and evolve and that I AM the creator of my reality. I still do have fears around it, but with that understanding I’m able to move through fears faster that I used to.

Before taking risks, I ask myself, “Is this something that the future version of myself would love for me to take?” The answer is usually “Yes” (Because deep down you already KNOW what to do). I start trusting the process of the unknown and knowing that I will be loved, guided, and supported at all times. If it feels scary yet exciting and aligned. Then, I consciously CHOOSE to take the risk and allow the magic to unfold.

Taking risks has completely changed my life. I have been manifesting the most magical things in my life and career. Being able to launch my business full-time, surrounded by amazing people who have a similar vision, and living in an environment that supports my expansion. It is the initiation to welcome the newer version of you and to let go of what’s not serving you anymore.

And yes, we all wish to see highest possible outcome, but even if you didn’t get the result that you’d like, the experiences that you attract from taking risks will help you to become the person you are meant to be.
