Community Highlights: Meet Mirelle Nogra of Mcreativities

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mirelle Nogra

Hi Mirelle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am the owner of @mcreativities_, a resin accessories shop on Instagram. I currently attend SDSU as a marketing major. Since I was young, I have always had this business and creative side. I thought of myself as a little entrepreneur. It started with making simple beaded bracelets for my friends in kindergarten, and then I moved on to making boondoggle keychains and origami. My first business was selling duct tape wallets in elementary school. I had this whole set up in my room, where I would stay for many hours making duct tape wallets. I even avoided doing homework to make duct tape wallets, which my parents were not happy about. In middle school, I always followed those DIY videos on YouTube. I found that I enjoyed making arts and crafts from YouTube, and I was always finding something new to make. Moving on to late high school, I started selling posters for birthdays and school events, even though I was not the best at drawing.

And towards the end of high school I sold custom made Disney ears for everyone to wear at granite. As soon as the pandemic hit, I needed to find a new hobby. I came across this TikTok of someone making a resin letter keychain and I just thought it was the cutest thing! I then decided to test it out and make a business out of it starting June 15, 2020. I started off with the letter keychains and I was quite surprised and happy with the number of orders I was receiving as a beginner. This success made me want to continue and more things out of resin. I ventured out into making trays, earrings, hair clips, covid19 keychains, and many more! Since the resin community is huge and trendy, I get a lot of inspiration from TikTok, Facebook groups, fellow businesses, and from my followers. The community is so supportive of each other, and I love the amount of positivity. I am very happy with the business I have created and the amount of support I get from my customers and followers.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have definitely faced some challenges. With the volume of orders, it can be challenging being consistent and organized. I now use google forms and google sheets to stay more organized, and it has been easygoing since I started using different techniques. The next challenge I face is being original with products. The resin community is huge and competitive right now, so there is a lot of different products being made out there. Everyone is still very supportive, and we have to give credit where it’s due! The original products I have made are mostly suggestions from my followers or from my own creative brain. I also have a challenge balancing schoolwork, my job, and this business. School and work is, of course a priority. I just squeeze in time for my business wherever I can!

I specialize in resin accessories. I sell keychains, earrings, hair clips, rolling trays, lash trays, picture frames, coasters, picture albums, notebooks, and many more to come! All products are made-to-order, meaning each piece is one of a kind! My products would be perfect for giving as gifts, and they can be personalized with anything you desire, even with pictures of the person you are giving the gift to!

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
The major risk of the business I have started is that it could be bad for my health. Resin is super toxic and can be bad for your lung when inhaled. This is why the resin community needs to wear proper protection. This includes a respirator and gloves. I make sure to stay in a well-ventilated area and keep a window open!
