Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan And Hector Vazquez.
Hi Morgan and Hector, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Meet Morgan and Hector, the heart and soul behind Caña Love! They first met as teenagers, at ages 16 and 17, and have been inseparable ever since. After graduating from college, the couple decided to pack up their lives and move to San Diego, where Morgan had spent her early childhood. In 2020, they had a change of heart and realized they wanted to dedicate their lives to something they truly loved—farming sugarcane. Hector, originally from Puerto Rico, has deep ties to sugarcane farming, as it was the primary source of income for his ancestors. Morgan’s connection to sugarcane comes from her Okinawan grandmother, who used to help her uncle stir sugarcane juice in a massive wood-burning pot to make sugar. Together, they are reconnecting with their roots and honoring their ancestors’ traditions by bringing you medicinal sugarcane juice, grown with love and care. Morgan and Hector are proud to share their passion with you!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the biggest challenges we’ve faced has been keeping up with the demand for our sugarcane juice while staying true to our commitment to sourcing locally. Because we only use locally grown sugarcane, there are times when supply can be limited, especially during off-seasons or weather fluctuations. It’s important to us to support local growers and maintain the freshness and quality that make our juice special, but it definitely requires flexibility and planning.
Another ongoing challenge has been educating people about the health benefits of sugarcane juice. There’s a common misconception that anything with “sugar” in the name is unhealthy, but sugarcane juice is actually full of natural electrolytes, antioxidants, and nutrients. A big part of our mission is helping people understand that it’s a nourishing, hydrating, and energizing drink straight from nature, not just another sugary beverage.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Caña Love, our motto is “Grown with love, pure from the start.” It reflects everything we do, from our relationship to our business. Both have been nurtured with care, grounded in love, and kept pure from the very beginning.
Quality is everything to us. We hand-harvest our sugarcane with intention, growing it the natural way, no chemicals, no shortcuts, just sun, soil, and water. All of our sugarcane is grown locally here in San Diego, and you can truly taste the difference compared to cane that’s been shipped in. In our unique climate, the cane takes two to five years to mature, which is much longer than in the tropics, but that patience creates something special, a sweet, earthy flavor that’s worth the wait. Every sip captures nature’s time, care, and love.
You can find Caña Love at the Vista and Leucadia Farmers Markets, Peace Pies, and Cardiff Seaside Market, bringing a taste of local, pure sugarcane juice to our community.
What matters most to you? Why?
Quality means everything to us. We never want to take shortcuts or serve juice that isn’t up to our standards. Our sugarcane juice is known for its naturally sweet, smooth flavor, and is something that truly sets us apart. That’s why we’ll never compromise on freshness or quality, even if it means growing our business at a slower pace.
Every batch we press is made with care and intention, from locally grown cane that’s harvested at its peak. We believe in doing things the right way, organically, patiently, and with love, so every sip tastes just as pure and vibrant as nature intended.
