Today we’d like to introduce you to Nohemi Araiza.
Hi Nohemi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From a young age, I’ve always had a passion for creativity — I was the kid who loved colors, drawing, and making things beautiful. When I lost my mother at 15, I made a promise to her that I would go to college, even though I wasn’t sure what I wanted to study at the time. I’m grateful for that promise because it set me on the path to where I am today. My sister first introduced me to the idea of graphic design, and that’s what inspired me to pursue it as a career.
After high school, I enrolled at The Art Institute of California – San Diego, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts. My first job was in the marketing department of an online motorcycle company, where I handled all of their graphic design. Since the business was online-only, they also needed support with online marketing and coding, so they invested in me by sending me to learn HTML and CSS at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA. That’s when I discovered my love for web design — and I’ve stuck with it ever since.
From there, I worked for a small marketing agency, a global apparel and accessories company, and a local marketing firm. Those experiences gave me a strong foundation, but along the way I was also building my own freelance brand. What started as side projects has now grown into my full-time career — one where I get to combine both design and development to help businesses bring their vision to life online.
I’ve always been someone who likes to stay active and challenged, which is why today I balance a full-time role, a part-time position, and my freelance work as a web developer and graphic designer. It keeps me busy, but also deeply fulfilled, because I get to do what I love across different spaces and for a variety of clients.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. In the beginning, I had to figure everything out on my own—finding clients, managing projects, keeping track of money while still trying to focus on being creative and full time jobs. I wore every hat, and at times it felt like a lot to juggle.
Confidence was another big hurdle. Moving from graphic design into web design was intimidating, especially since the tech world changes so fast. There were moments where I felt like I was in over my head, but pushing through those challenges is what helped me grow the most.
Looking back, those struggles really shaped me. They taught me to adapt, keep learning, and stay resilient—and honestly, they made the wins along the way feel that much sweeter.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about NP Design Services?
I run my own freelance business specializing in WordPress and Shopify websites. I combine my background in graphic design with web development, so clients get sites that are both creative and functional.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just build and walk away—I stick around to support my clients long-term. Many of them have been with me for years, and most of my work comes from referrals, which I’m really proud of.
At the end of the day, I want businesses to know I truly care about their online presence. A website is often the first impression, and I love making sure it’s a great one.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about San Diego is the mix of culture, it’s a big city, laid-back, welcoming vibe. The weather is unbeatable, and being close to both the beach and the border is a plus! There’s so much culture here, and I love how diverse the community is.
What I like least? Definitely the cost of living… but the tacos and sunsets make up for it! 🌮🌅
