Hi Oscar, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
When I finished my civil engineering degree (Baja California, Mexico), I became interested in topography and its diversity. I started working at the city hall, which helped reaffirm my interest in topography, so I formed a company that provided civil engineering services and surveying in Baja California with a trajectory of 20 years to date, which gave me the idea of starting a business in California obtaining a job in a civil engineering company “K&S Engineering” I worked for 5 years in the area of surveying and construction as well that supporting the company with aerial surveying work with a drone, and later in 2021 become part of “Excel Engineering” in which I continue to work in the area of surveying and in the same way assisting them with aerial surveying with a drone, in this stage of my life I would like to focus on continuing to carry out only aerial surveying with a drone to different types of professionals, not only engineers, architects or surveyors, this profession It is a passion for me. I really like being able to provide this type of service and see how surprised and happy my clients are with the final results. Right now, “Excel Engineering” is giving me the opportunity to obtain my surveying license, this greatly facilitates my progress as a professional, the support from “Excel Engineering” is something unexpected, it is a company with many values, respectful and committed to excellence, which makes me proud to be part of the team.
My work experience extends to construction staking, boundary, and surveying, which greatly facilitates my work in drone surveying, and the results of my work are appreciated by my clients.
Drone surveying has taken me to work in locations throughout California, Baja California, and parts of Baja California Sur, getting results from jobs that would normally take weeks to just a few days of work.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s never easy. I have had many obstacles to overcome, the first was the lack of experience when I finished my civil engineering degree, bad clients who take advantage of rookies, etc., etc…
To date, most of the companies that are dedicated to engineering and topography are companies with many years in the market and are afraid of new technologies and their results, which on certain occasions makes it difficult for me to offer them my services, but what has kept me firm in my decision to continue in topography was that I really like this profession and to continue educating myself in new equipment and programs to provide a better service at a lower cost and less time.

CAPTO drone services… CAPTO is a small company dedicated to providing drone photography and video services, but more focused on the area of engineering and surveying based on my civil engineering career.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
My life was full of shortcomings which were replaced by focusing on academic training, sports, and hobbies, growing up in Mexico is not an easy task but it helps to value the opportunities that the United States offers, and I am really happy and grateful with the way that the United States It has helped in my professional training and that is why I am excited to return some gratitude to my clients by showing it in a more complete service for their projects. I am passionate about enjoying life, a good conversation, and enjoying my family, one of my favorite hobbies is photography, I would be interested in going back to enjoy surfing, mountain biking, road trips, and vacationing on beautiful beaches, nothing wrong with that.
