Community Highlights: Meet Rozalynne Woolf of The Lighthouse Salon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rozalynne Woolf

Hi Rozalynne, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been passionate about hairstyling since I was a young girl. I knew I wanted to build a career in the beauty industry and worked really hard to put myself through school to make that happen. I moved to California in 2001 and devoted my time and energy into learning and growing as much as I could as a young stylist. I attended the Paul Mitchell School in Costa Mesa. Soon after graduation I was certified to begin my journey as an educator for the PM Advanced Academy team that allowed me to experience stage work and time training stylists within salons around the country. It was a valuable time for me to gather knowledge for one day owning my own salon. The time presented itself in 2014 to bring that dream into reality. I had built myself up as an independent stylist and had a very strong clientele behind the chair. I felt ready to move into the next chapter of my career and open the salon of my dreams.

We were so excited and grateful to have just celebrated our 11 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!! What a beautiful journey it has been. The Lighthouse has evolved so much over the years and I feel very proud of the community we’ve become. Our amazingly loyal clients have made this all possible by choosing us to be a part of their lives and provide them with our services throughout the years. We are so GRATEFUL!! The LH team has held steady and stayed connected to our vision and why we do what we do. We have an amazing group of heart-based stylist that continue to inspire me every day. I feel very grateful to have been on this journey with such amazing souls along the way. I look forward to cultivating more love and connection within our community in the years to come.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
You definitely run into challenges when owning a small business. Learning the the ropes of the business side of things on a larger scale was intimidating at first. I have been so fortunate to have met people along the way that helped pave the way and taught me so much. Some trial and error for sure but things smoothed out fairly quickly. Once my husband and I started our family, I had another curveball to navigate. How do I show up for my business and my family? Work life balance is no joke when you own a small business and juggle the demands of motherhood. It’s a constant dance that takes a lot of intentional mental and physical energy, but it’s SO worth it!!

The business has shape shifted throughout the years. Some expected and unexpected turns in the road but we’ve managed to stay committed to our vision.
Thankfully we were strong and thriving when COVID hit. We really had to get creative to make ends meet and hang on. Our team came together to keep our doors open along with the support of our clients and families. Coming out on the other side of a pandemic and picking up the pieces was no small feet. We are SO grateful to still be here!

We’ve been impressed with The Lighthouse Salon , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our salon space hosts 11 Independent stylists and 1 Esthetician. Our event space hosts Acupuncture, Reiki, Sound Healing, Yoga, etc. We have a full time manager that supports the flow of our businesses and brings so much joy to our team and clients!

Our stylists are committed to ongoing education and keeping up on the latest trends. We value our artistry and enjoy providing specialized services for our clients. We specialize in balayage, blonding services, curly cuts, specialty facials, & peels. We use and recommend high end, conscious product lines that perform and support our stylists and our clients at home.

What sets us apart:
We are a heart-based community where like minded businesses have come together to cultivate a safe space for everyone to thrive.
We aim to uplift and see the infinite beauty in one another, inside and out, by offering haircare, skincare, and energy healing services.
We are committed to cultivating an experience where our guests and team feel nourished, accepted, and loved exactly where they are.
We understand the importance of belonging in community and invite collaboration with those that share our vision.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see the years ahead of us bringing more intentional community, cleaner products, prioritizing our health as stylists, more value and respect for our trade, new innovative tools and education.

Our industry has evolved so much since I began my journey 24 years ago. It’s always exciting see old trends resurface with a new modern spin to it. I have been in the game long enough to see so many come full circle! I do feel that lived in, balayage techniques are here to stay. They are ever evolving! Approaching color applications with the ability to blend multiple techniques allows us to really customize for each client’s needs and desires.
