Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Meyers.
Hi Sarah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey began with a love for skincare and a belief that true beauty starts with how we care for our skin — and ourselves. Early on in my esthetics career, I discovered sugaring and immediately connected to its roots: a natural, gentle, and deeply intentional form of hair removal that works with the skin, not against it.
I created Sugar & Silk in San Diego as a space rooted in care, comfort, and connection — where skin meets intention. Sugaring isn’t just a service here; it’s a ritual. Each treatment is done with precision, patience, and purpose, using an all-natural sugar paste that works in harmony with the body.
Beyond hair removal, I specialize in corrective skincare treatments that focus on acne, sensitivity, and eczema — helping clients heal their skin from the inside out while feeling empowered in the process. To me, Sugar & Silk represents more than smooth or clear skin — it’s about confidence, healing, and feeling deeply at home in yourself. That’s the energy I pour into every service and every client experience.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I opened Sugar & Silk just three weeks before the world went into lockdown — with no idea what was ahead. Everything I had poured my heart, time, and savings into suddenly felt uncertain. Around that same time, I also lost my dad — my biggest supporter and the person who believed in me before I fully believed in myself.
He actually helped me name my original business, Silky Skincare & Sugaring. When I later rebranded to Sugar & Silk, I kept pieces of that name to honor him and the faith he had in me. It’s a daily reminder that his influence still lives within everything I’ve built.
That first year was one of the hardest and most frightening times I’ve ever faced as a business owner. Between navigating shutdowns, grief, and the fear of losing everything I’d worked for, I had to find strength I didn’t know I had. But giving up was never an option.
Persevering through that season taught me resilience, faith, and purpose. Every time I step into my studio, I’m reminded of my “why” — that Sugar & Silk is more than just a business. It’s a space built on love, healing, and intention, and a reflection of the belief my dad always had in me.
We’ve been impressed with Sugar & Silk, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sugar & Silk is a holistic sugaring and skincare studio based in San Diego, where skin meets intention. I specialize in natural hair removal through body sugaring and corrective skincare treatments that focus on acne, sensitivity, and eczema. My approach blends medical grade skincare with the art of gentle, natural care — creating visible results while honoring the skin’s integrity.
What sets Sugar & Silk apart is the experience. Every service is done with intention — from the way I mold the sugar to the personalized aftercare I create for each client. My studio is designed to feel earthy, calming, and welcoming — a space where clients can exhale and reconnect with themselves.
I’m most proud of the trust and transformation that have grown from this work. For many clients, sugaring and skincare are not just beauty treatments — they’re moments of healing, confidence, and empowerment. Sugar & Silk is more than smooth skin; it’s about helping people feel deeply at home in their bodies, knowing their skin is cared for with heart and purpose.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My family has been my greatest support system from the very beginning. They’ve been my steady foundation through every challenge, cheering me on through each season of growth and reminding me to keep believing in myself — especially in the moments when things felt uncertain.
I also owe so much to my clients. Their trust, loyalty, and encouragement have played a huge role in shaping Sugar & Silk into what it is today. Many have followed my journey from the very start, believed in my vision, and supported my dreams in ways that continue to inspire me.
This business has always been built on connection, and I’m endlessly grateful for every person who’s walked through my doors and allowed me to be a small part of their self-care journey.
