Today we’d like to introduce you to Sativa Brown. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Baron Long Party Rentals was created by the brother-sister duo Samsin and Sativa Brown in October 2020. Sativa was a business student in her Senior year at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) when the pandemic shut everything down. Classes were switched to online, and graduation was postponed. The pandemic put everyone’s lives on hold and forced us to reimagine a new normal. Graduation was scaled down and limited to two guests per graduate and then we were sent on our way. A couple of months down the line, Samsin approached Sativa with the idea of starting a family business. After some brainstorming and research, we both agreed on party rentals. We bought 4 bounce houses and began our business. Things were going well so we were trying to find ways to expand and reinvest in our business. In January of 2022, we stumbled across the Grow by Invoice2go grant which awards $200,000 to help small business owners from minority communities. To our shock and excitement, from over 31,000 applications we were chosen as one of the 1st-tier $15,000 cash prize winners. With the prize money, we were able to buy two more slides and some tools that made our job easier and more efficient.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Like any business, we have had some struggles along the way. Working with a sibling is never easy and learning how to communicate properly and agree to disagree is something we’ve had to learn as we grow. Another struggle we faced is not having a trailer to use on deliveries when we first started. We had to get creative and use what we had at the beginning, which made deliveries harder and limited how much we could fit in one trip. Another struggle we face is competing with the amount of inventory our competitors offer versus us. As a new company, we have less inventory than other competitors in our area, so we have to stand out in other ways.

Baron Long Party Rentals LLC is a licensed and insured party supply rental company. We make events stress-free by providing safe, affordable, and high-quality products. We rent tables, chairs, inflatables, concessions, games, and small tents for parties and events. Most of our clients find us for our bounce houses and add on extra items. We have a good reputation for having brand new clean inflatables at an affordable price. The thing I am most proud of is being able to serve multiple rural tribal communities that most other operators are unwilling to serve because of their location and stigma.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory growing up is having family parties for the holidays. I remember my mom going over the top to decorate the house and spending hours in the kitchen cooking for our closest family and friends. She was the ultimate party planner and made every occasion an experience. My parents always welcomed everyone with open arms, and this really made the holidays feel magical.
