Today we’d like to introduce you to Simone Ressner.
Hi Simone, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
When I started my acupuncture practice in San Diego ten years ago, my primary motivation was to make high-quality, personalized acupuncture care accessible to more people. I saw a gap in the existing models—community acupuncture clinics were more affordable, but often lacked the depth of personalized care that I believe is essential for long-term healing due to time constraints. On the other hand, private clinics offered that level of care, but at a price point that was simply out of reach for many individuals or kept people coming in inconsistently without getting the results.
I wanted to create something different. My vision was to offer the best of both worlds: in-depth, individualized treatments at a price that didn’t make people choose between their health and their budget. That meant taking time with each patient, conducting thorough medical intakes, using well-researched treatment protocols, and incorporating targeted supplements when appropriate. This approach allows us to address not just symptoms, but root causes—something that’s not always possible in faster-paced or lower-cost models.
Over the past decade, I’ve stayed committed to this model because I’ve seen firsthand how much more effective acupuncture can be when it’s deeply personalized. Whether someone is dealing with chronic pain, hormonal imbalance, anxiety, or digestive issues, we design a plan that’s truly tailored to their needs. Our clinic has become a space where people feel seen, supported, and empowered on their healing journey—without the financial strain that often comes with high-quality integrative care.
Ultimately, starting this business was about aligning my clinical values with accessibility. I didn’t want excellent care to be a luxury; I wanted it to be the standard. And I’m proud that, ten years later, that mission still guides everything we do.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part, we’ve been embraced and our business has even been petitioned to stay in the neighborhood despite city zoning issues that have arisen. I feel immense gratitude for the incredible support I’ve received throughout this journey. My deepest thanks go to my love, Paul Bloch, whose unwavering belief in me has been a constant source of strength and encouragement. I’m also profoundly grateful to the staff here, and the many friends who have stood by me (too many to name), including Larry Michel (for his unfaltering and immense support, wisdom, and skill) and Trent Habstritt—your generosity, wisdom, and friendship have meant more than words can express.
To my mentors—Alex Kip, Kane and Alessia, and James and Delsey—thank you for guiding me through the challenges and growth of building a heart-centered business. Your insights and support helped shape not only how I show up as a practitioner, but how I lead with purpose and integrity. I truly couldn’t have done this without the community that surrounded me, believed in me, and inspired me to keep going—even when it was hard.
And last but definitely not least: to the San Diego community—thank you for welcoming this clinic, for trusting me with your care, and for showing up again and again. Your support, your word-of-mouth referrals, your feedback, and your commitment to your own healing have helped this business grow in ways I never could have imagined. I’m honored to serve such a vibrant, conscious, and compassionate community.
As you know, we’re big fans of Source Acupuncture. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
What we want the world to know: Source is more than an integrative acupuncture clinic—it’s a healing model built on accessibility, community, and integrative intelligence. Our philosophy is simple: wellness should be exceptional, inclusive, and effective. I’m proud that our story reflects what’s possible when care stays personal, evidence-based, and affordable.
We are proud that in addition to being a top-rated Acupuncture Clinic for 10 years and having the best staff, we have our own small batch tincture line, boutique, and herbal medicine store.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success isn’t about achieving a thing but instead, living in a state of being that has integrated the heart’s awareness of what matters – this is prioritized and lived/ shared with integrity.
