Community Highlights: Meet Spshelle Faith Gordon of Spshelle Inspires

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Spshelle Faith Gordon.

Spshelle Faith Gordon

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
After serving in the US Marine Corps, I didn’t grasp the impact I could have until near the end of my Marine Corps career. During my military service, I eventually became a non-commissioned officer serving nationally and abroad. I planned to serve for life until I had to retire honorably.

As a mom to my one-year-old son at the time, I was devastated and feared for my ability to provide for him. I feared that I would be like many veterans who end their time serving just to struggle to live and thrive in the society we sacrificed to protect. I was determined to overcome the odds stacked against me.

I gained a sense of purpose by assisting fellow wounded warriors toward the end of my service while I was healing. That passion turned into a desire to help underserved people on a full-time basis, centering on mental health wellness and public health. Working in the government, private, and non-profit sectors motivated me to start Spshelle Inspires.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was not always a smooth road. To have been a woman in the military took courage. Not many women join the service, so you are often outnumbered by men and tasked with training and producing the same outcomes together.

Being a leader in public health, especially centering mental health, also takes courage, especially if you can relate to the individuals you serve. I had to learn how to love myself despite abuse and some of the traumas I endured that were out of my control, and thanks to cognitive therapy, the love, and support of my husband Mathew, the love I have for my son John, my parents, and long-time close friends, I am where I am at.

Seeking therapy regularly is important because, like getting a physical check-up, mental health and well-being are just as important, especially in my field.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Spshelle Inspires, we aim to empower individuals and organizations through customized talks and consulting services. We aim to inspire resilient leadership, foster personal growth, and enhance positivity and productivity in every aspect of life. We are committed to making a lasting impact by providing practical solutions and insights to drive meaningful change.

Certified as a Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) and Small Business (SB), I am known for my work in the mental health and public health spaces and for uplifting and advocating for the needs of my community. I also specialize in doing this from a culturally inclusive lens, which, along with the certifications, sets me apart.

I am most proud of the way I’ve been able to speak to people and impact them, whether I’m teaching, providing a workshop, or giving advice. I’d love readers to check out my website and click through my store, which includes home & living merchandise, workout apparel, and more with words of affirmation we need to live by and inspire.

Our approach is rooted in real-world experience, compassion, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals and organizations today.

We believe in:

  • Personalized Solutions: Tailoring our services to meet the unique needs of each client.
  • Engagement and Interaction: Creating a collaborative environment where ideas can flourish.
  • Sustainable Impact: Ensuring that the changes we inspire are lasting and impactful.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
How important it is to ask questions, lean into your support system, and seek helpful resources. If life circumstances get to be too much, it’s ok to pause and start back over again. I once read a saying, “falling off is normal, get back on every time.”

Regarding asking questions and seeking helpful resources to help me properly expand, I’ve gotten advisement from the California OSBA and San Diego Women’s Business Center thanks to business advisor Stephanie Garcia. My website thanks to “4thesocial Marketing Agency”, Olivia Green. Cliche, but true, the sky is the limit.
