Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Liu.
Wendy , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey into wedding content creation began in the most personal way possible, through my own wedding. Before I ever thought about turning it into a business, I was already someone who enjoyed documenting life. I had a foodie Instagram where I shared all my favorite eats, and a personal page filled with travel snapshots and little moments that made me happy. So when I got engaged in 2022, I naturally told myself: I’m going to document every part of this experience.
But when the big day came, it was a whirlwind, the kind of beautiful chaos every bride can relate to, I’m sure of it! Between the excitement, emotions, and a million little details, I barely remembered to drink water, let alone take photos or videos. We had an unplugged ceremony because we wanted everyone to be fully present. But coming from an immigrant family, where many of my relatives didn’t speak English, the message didn’t quite translate. Few photos were taken that day, and after it was all over, I realized how many in-between moments had slipped away undocumented.
The next day, my mom asked me to send photos to her and I was confused because I didn’t take any and explained that the photographer’s turnaround time would be about 4–8 weeks, and she looked at me, completely bewildered. She said, “But your grandma in China is asking to see the wedding” and that was the moment that broke my heart a little. I told her it was a misunderstanding about the unplugged ceremony, and that we’d just have to wait.
That’s when the idea first hit me: in this digital age, with family spread across the world and memories happening so quickly, why isn’t there someone dedicated to capturing the instant, behind-the-scenes moments of a wedding day, for sharing right away?
And that’s how my wedding content creation business was born: from love, empathy, and a deep understanding of how precious these moments truly are. I wanted to help couples stay fully present on their day, while still having those instant memories to share with loved ones near and far.
Everlasting Bytes specializes in capturing the unscripted, organic moments that make a wedding day truly unforgettable and creating short-form, bite-sized content to relive. Think of me as a complement to your traditional photographer and videographer, not here to replace those essential services but to enhance them. We capture the real-time magic, so you can keep reliving it and share those intimate, unposed moments with your loved ones right away.
This industry is definitely evolving, and I’m so excited to be a part of this new wave of wedding content creation. The feedback from couples + vendors have been overwhelmingly positive, and I’m thrilled to know that I’m not alone in wanting to preserve those fleeting moments of pure joy and connection.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Since launching Everlasting Bytes, it’s been an exciting and fast-paced journey of continuous learning. I’m constantly navigating the nuances of the wedding industry, figuring out what’s acceptable and what isn’t, and adapting as I go.
One of the biggest challenges I’ve encountered is working alongside media teams who may not yet fully embrace wedding content creators as part of the vendor team. This can stem from previous negative experiences or simply a belief that the wedding day is already crowded. To ensure smooth collaboration, I make it a priority to connect with them beforehand, so they’re aware of my role and I can coordinate with their team to ensure I’m not in the way of their shots. Building respectful relationships and communicating roles clearly before the day really helps set the tone for the wedding day!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Everlasting Bytes, we specialize in crafting short, shareable content that’s perfect for sharing and reliving your wedding day by next day. From heartfelt family moments to behind-the-scenes glimpses, and candid snippets that capture the true essence of your celebration, we give couples the opportunity to share the magic of their day almost immediately.
One of the most common questions I get from friends and family is how I differ from wedding photographers or videographers. I always emphasize that I’m not here to replace your traditional media team, but rather to complement it. Photographers preserve your wedding day in timeless images. Videographers craft cinematic films that tell your story. As a wedding content creator, I capture the day through a different lens: one that focuses on the candid, unposed moments that unfold in real time, making them easy to share and relive instantly with your loved ones the next day.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was a bit shy, never one to seek attention, but somehow, I often found myself in the spotlight (or maybe that was just in my head, haha). I’ve always been someone who adapts to my surroundings. If my friend group was extroverted, I’d match that energy; if they were more reserved, I’d be the same. People who knew me in different phases of my life would often describe me as either outgoing or shy, and over time, I’ve realized I fall somewhere in between; I guess you could say I’m an ambivert. In many ways, that flexibility has been a blessing in this industry, where so many different personalities come together. It allows me to connect with anyone, regardless of their temperament, and adapt to the dynamic of the day.
I also went through phases where I was either oversharing (hello, Xanga days!) or keeping everything close to the chest (I was actually the last person to get on social media). It’s funny to think that someone who once cherished her privacy ended up starting a business centered around sharing moments with the world. At first, I didn’t fully understand the appeal of sharing my meals, travels, or experiences with others, but then I realized how much joy I got from sharing stories that inspired my friends and family to try new food or visit new destinations. It became clear to me how sharing these experiences can deepen connections and strengthen relationships.
In many ways, that’s what inspired me to create Everlasting Bytes: to help couples share the moments that matter, the spontaneous, heartfelt memories that are so often left off traditional wedding photography and videography. Just as I loved sharing my personal experiences, I now get to help others share their wedding stories, adding a new layer of connection and joy that transcends the day itself. It’s an exciting and natural evolution of my journey, blending my love for storytelling and my ability to adapt and connect with people in meaningful ways.
