Today we’d like to introduce you to Xochitl Cordova.
Hi Xochitl, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Freshly graduated as Graphic designer in Guadalajara, Jal. Mexico and having our first child, my family and I decided to move to San Diego since we had always back and forth between these two awesome places. We thought San Diego is a great place to grown our family and start a new journey. With no experience I decide to look for an internship instead of a job in a graphic design studio. A family owned design studio gave me the opportunity to become a member of their team and later on I started to feel a member of their family, since day one I learned something new and they always encourage me to “Never Stay With” and to always give an extra to make it great!. After three wonderful years of working web design and inspired by my dad business I decided to try Laser Cutting. Bought our first laser and from there I been wonder of all the things we can create, it’s fun when new ideas comes to my mind and be able to recreate them and see the finish product is exciting! mixing materials, colors, textures, experiment new techniques, thinking outside the box, all of these I think are making this small business special.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a mother of two of course there were a few bumps along the way, trying to have a business, taking care of them, and if it is not enough a pandemic just started, during this year it’s been a challenge with business closing, home schooling, quarantine, but with the help of my husband, family and friends who always support and trust me I was able to grow each day, also to really trust myself.
We’ve been impressed with Motion Laser Design, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a custom laser cutting company that loves to experiment with different materials to create unique pieces. From Concept, to design to manufacture, giving personalized services by really trying to catch and fulfill our client’s expectations and needs. We are currently working on building a web site to our customers to make it easier to shop pre made designs like cake toppers, bar signs, name signs among others. All made with love and care.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up between two cities and as the oldest of a family of five my childhood was awesome!. As my mom says always my interest for art, painting and coloring pop up since a young age. I feel blessed since I found my passion at early age. I’ve always been a shy person, and hard for me to open up with people. Like everyone I had my ups and downs but always focused on what I want to accomplish personally and professionally.
