Today we’d like to introduce you to Yeisy Vasquez
Hi Yeisy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Ever since I was little all I knew is that I wanted to be an Artist. Growing up I was interested in music, photography, school plays & dances, and even speed typing lol. Raised in a Mexican household as the 2nd oldest I liked helping my mom fill out tedious paperwork and I thought maybe I should look into working in the administrative field. Although my heart wanted to venture out in some inspiring but unclear “artistic” career, I decided to lead with my head and studied Business Administration at my hometown San Diego, California. I worked very hard the next 15 years to become a successful Office Manager and Executive Assistant to many CEOs.
During my early 30s I started to rethink my career choice and felt that it was time for me to retire from my secretary role. I started to think that I was just as capable of becoming the CEO of my own company one day. At this time I was willing to continue working and go back to school to gain new high-income skills and learn new ways to develop my talents.
Then in the summer of 2019 I was living in Chandler, Arizona and I noticed one of my coworkers wearing beautiful & captivating lashes. I thought she was wearing lash strips and I didn’t like the idea of struggling to put them on since I was so used to just curling my lashes and applying mascara. So I complimented my coworker and I was fascinated to learn they were Eyelash Extensions and semi-permanent, meaning they were designed to last on your eyes for at least 2-4 weeks with proper aftercare. I had a girls trip coming up in Mexico & I decided to try lashes for the first time and I was hooked!!! Wearing lash extensions genuinely made me feel so happy and decided that I wanted to have that effect on people. So I asked my lash tech the roadmap to her success and she advised me to go get my esthetician license and take a lash course. This time around I decided to lead with my heart to pursue a career as a Lash Artist and it’s honestly been a rollercoaster and a huge blessing ever since.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Throughout my journey on becoming a new service provider in the beauty industry there’ve been plenty of times that I’ve wanted to quit. Two weeks into beauty school, Covid hit and we were all sent home for lockdown for months. It was such a bummer to miss out on the school experience as a new esthetician student but I did my best and I managed to ace my state board practicals. I invested all of my money on tuition and trained on Classics, Hybrids, Volume and Mega Volume techniques. When I moved back to San Diego in 2021, I invested my time to work for a private beauty salon and academy and got to work as a lash training advisor, lash technician and of course, front desk 🙂 Due to the ultimate desire of growing my own brand, I decided to end my partnership on good terms.
Building my clientele from the ground up was challenging and while I continued to lash clients I decided that I was willing to invest my time on one more company that I felt would advance my career path in the beauty industry. I got to work for a reputable wax franchise and got trained on speed waxing with hard wax. Helping women remove unwanted hair from their face & body was truly rewarding for me. But after a couple months of working as a Wax Specialist, I was let go unexpectedly, however, that opened up my full time availability to accept new clients.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Beyanova Beauty Studio LLC?
I am a licensed esthetician in Arizona and California; I run a solo-beauty business called Beyanova Beauty Studio LLC, located in Spring Valley, California. Beyanova means a new beautiful bright star glowing in the sky. The stars to my beauty biz are all my models and clients that are illuminating the path to my success. I specialize in the art of handmade fans to create customizable eyelash sets such as natural and volume lash sets. My extensive trainings have taught me how to create all this while keeping the integrity of natural lashes healthy. I also offer my clients my signature face wax which is cleaning up the brows, lips and chin area. Another specialty is performing Brazilian services to only female clients and making them feel super comfortable. I want my readers to know that I truly enjoy being a beauty service provider, I only use top quality products and I’m very professional with customer service.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I’d like to thank my mom who is a small solo business owner and she persistently reminds me to keep my eyes on the prize. I’d like to thank my younger sisters Cristina and Sonia who were my first lash models right after lash training and helped me get out of my comfort of lashing my mannequin lol. I’d like to thank my niece Elena & my nephew Javier for cheering me on to get through beauty school during the challenging Covid era. Special thanks to my dad Joe for always being my biggest supporter to my goals in life. I’m thankful to my boyfriend Tony for taking a leap of faith with me for both of us to quit our jobs and open our own businesses. I’m grateful for every friend, model, client, co-worker, boss, trainer, student, mentor and all the jobs that have played a role in my development of becoming the business woman and the Artist I am today.
