Conversations with the Inspiring Beverley Simpson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beverley Simpson.

Beverley, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up in the Bay Area, California and wanted to chase the dream of being on Broadway. I packed up and moved across the country to NYC, attended a conservatory graduate school and started the audition grind. For me, I believed that my perfect acting job was on the other side of fixing my body. So, I dived deep into the exercise and fitness, and I took a personal training job on in a gym in Manhattan as my “day job.” While I was there, I fell in love with helping people on their wellness journey, and my pull to stay in the gym grew stronger than my pull to live in the audition room.

I believe that we must love the process more than the outcome in everything we do in life because we’re going to spend more time in the process than we are in the outcome. At the time, I felt like I was leaving a narcissistic industry, and I wanted to serve the people in my community who needed help. I did that for many years until I got pregnant. My two daughters have been my greatest teachers in life. They helped me discover through three body transformations in a rather short period that I didn’t leave a narcissist theater industry. In reality, I had to deal with two decades of body hate. I also discovered a gap in resources and support in the fitness and wellness industry for moms. I found my calling to help an underserved community of women: moms.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I was pregnant, I wanted to have a “natural birth” and I wanted to breastfeed because I believed that I would get my body back faster. I didn’t get either of those experiences, and I’m so grateful I didn’t because now I can support and help moms on a similar journey.

If I could go back to my younger self, I would say the number one thing we can do for ourselves is to work on our self-esteem and to read this book “Love Yourself Like Your Life Depended on It.” Our life is too short to worry about what our bodies look like.

what should we know about BSimpsonFitness? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I help moms return to exercise the safest and most efficient way possible, lose weight without body hate, build confidence through strength, and quit yo-yo dieting once and for all.

The fitness industry is polarized about the fat loss right now. On one hand, you have the extremists in the body positive movement who believe that promoting weight loss is the enemy, and then you have the fitness marketers who promote quick fixes with weight loss teas. Plus, you have these mommies and me boot camp classes that aren’t all created equal and the 6-week checkup isn’t the same green light everyone expects.

New and recent moms who are already tired, overwhelmed, and confused hardly stand a chance with all the noise in the industry, which is why I provide customized support to help moms master their metabolism, and enjoy their workouts without leaking or pain.

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
I think the opportunities for women are abundant despite the challenges we can’t control.
