Conversations with the Inspiring Driana Diaz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Driana Diaz.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Driana. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
At a very young age, I have always loved social media. I was super into YouTube when it first was a thing. I would watch hours and hours of videos of beautiful people to comedy skits. When I was alone in my room, I would pretend I was filming videos. As I got older, I would meet people on Twitter, MySpace, Instagram and become friends with them in real life. I just made amazing connections and I’ve been friends with some for almost ten years now!

My life changed when I started to film YouTube videos for my channel and made my Instagram account for it. I was always on Instagram, but when I started to realize I can make amazing friends and share my journey with others is when I realized this is what I want to do. I met supportive, amazing ladies all over the world who support me and have the same love for social media, blogging, and YouTube.

I only recently started to grow dramatically online and be way more open about my journey with life and YouTube.

I am very open about all the struggles that life throws at us, and I might be smiling in my Instagram post, but I always talk about what’s really going on in the caption below.

I want people to know we all go through hard times, and we all start from somewhere on this blogging, vlogging or social media journey. I just happen to mention it all and I’m seeing where it all takes me!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been difficult, of course. I have always struggled with confidence and for me doing YouTube videos is a very very vulnerable spot to put myself in. I have a bit over a hundred people watch who can comment whatever they want about me. That is terrifying. But I love filming. I love editing. I love the whole process of it. I love taking pictures and editing them.

I also struggled with the idea of perfectionism. I wanted my videos to look like the girls that have over hundreds of thousands of subscribers. I wanted my editing skills to be exactly like them, I wanted my house to look like theirs. It’s not possible right now. I have only been on YouTube for a year or two. I don’t post all the time so how do I expect to be at their skill level? I can’t… YET.

We just have to stop being our worst critic. You have to remember why you want to post videos, pictures, or blog posts and remember we all start somewhere. We all learn along the way and this is your own journey.

You can do it! Just start. Don’t waste time wishing you would have started yesterday when it’s a new day today!

What should we know about ddrianaa? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am honestly figuring out what I am doing with my brand right now too.
I talk a lot about figuring out my own journey on my posts.

What sets me apart is I talk about the real emotions I feel. I want people to know everybody on social media isn’t happy and they don’t all have to figure out. I’m your average girl trying to figure out her dreams, but I just document it all. I hope it inspires other young people to share their journey and to feel as if I am one of their friends. I welcome anybody to message me and I will be there and support you along your journey as well!

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
Put your location on your posts! Since I live in San Diego, I ALWAYS add San Diego to my post location. You’d be surprised how many people I’ve gotten in contact with just from that. If I am at a certain restaurant and post a food picture, I will add the restaurant I’m at. I love to add hashtags with my location as well. I notice that gets me out there and I love to check other bloggers that live in San Diego through this method.
