Today we’d like to introduce you to Farah George.
Farah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was 12 when my passion for makeup really busted. I learned how to apply false lashes and I’d buy makeup with my allowance despite my parents not allowing me to wear it. Then, by 18 years of age, I was hired at MAC Cosmetics which was a huge dream come true. After many years I worked at Sephora which was a dream of mine too, then, I had many loyal customers, so I started freelancing and my followers on Instagram grew. Now I am a successful makeup artist but my success will not end here, next I’ll be YouTube famous and possibly a celebrity makeup artist. Mark my words. Remember this moment and name.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not a smooth road by any means. Many managers turned me down at MAC until one recruiter for the entire company discovered me and hired me. Same with Sephora. Now, I am a successful makeup artist with amazing, loyal customers. My advice is do not give up on your dreams. Nothing easy is worth having.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I specialize in all types of makeup looks, anything from glamour to special fx which is like what Hollywood needs for horror movies, creating sounds, bruises, etc… I am fair priced, I have a huge heart, my makeup skills set me apart because I provide all types of looks, natural, glam, Arabic makeup (very dramatic), theatrical, and anything in between. Unlike many “artists” in San Diego, I use only high-quality makeup bought directly from MAC and mostly Sephora. I am also available for travel. Book today and you’ll never look back.
Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
As a small, young child, I’d dig through my mom’s makeup kits and bags until I got caught one day and of course got yelled at but that clearly did not stop me. I keep growing as a brand.
