Today we’d like to introduce you to Gala Marquez-Gordon.
Gala, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was raised in Caracas, Venezuela where beauty pageants and their queens are known worldwide.
At a very young age, I would accompany my mom to her weekly spa treatment and be always fascinated by the transformation her esthetician would achieve.
Through the interest I showed, I got to work as a receptionist and assisted in helping the owner prepare the clients for treatments.
Estrella Fernandez (owner) took me under her wing and became mentor me many years.
In my early twenties, I moved to Spain where I got my degree in skin care and other Holistic modalities.
For over 12 years, I worked as a skin therapist and beauty consultant for companies such as AVEDA, LaMer, and others.
In 2014, I moved back to San Diego CA where I decided to open my own beauty suite to enlighten and enrich my clients with the knowledge I acquired through years of studies and practice during my time in Europe and Venezuela.
Has it been a smooth road?
The hardest was telling people that there are other alternatives to beauty and wellness treatments. I found Americans to be very skeptic when it came to different modalities.
Now, it’s water under the bridge because they have seen the results and trust and believe in me.
Lisen to your intuition and gut!!! Don’t let anyone tell you,” You Can’t Because you CAN!!!”
There is room for all of us in this beautiful profession.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into 5thBeauties story. Tell us more about the business.
As an Esthetician over the years, I’ve learned that most peoples skin problems stem from an emotional imbalance and lack of rest, I’m a Yoga Nidra Instructor as well.
Most of my treatments are holistic.
I address and customize every treatment for my clients so they have everything catered to there needs.
I like to make sure that there its an inner and exterior transformation.
I send people back into the world Happy.
One of my signature treatments is Cryotherapy (it’s done with frozen drops) and is wonderful for awakening our own collagen.
I’m very proud that I can share my knowledge achieved over the years with others, so they can have healthier skin and lives
I make sure all my clients are pampered and cared for while they are in the treatment room (Estheticians have the tendency to become a few their clients personal “therapist”).
Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
Yes, of course!
I was raised in a country where taking care of oneself is a MUST. (Internally and externally. Complete wellness.)
