Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Abad.
Hannah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Coaching found me… and I love that about my story. I was working as a freelance photojournalist before I became a coach and was deeply fulfilled in my work. While working overseas on a project, I got into a serious car accident and all of a sudden, my current livelihood wasn’t a viable option anymore and I was lost, trying to figure out “what’s next?”
It’s a long, wild, story but thanks to a recommendation, a coaching company reached out to recruit me. I felt like there was potential in it for me because of my love for investing deeply in people, growth, and strategy, and promoting living out your core purpose. Needless to say, it ended up being an amazing fit and here I am today.
I went from working for a coaching company to launching solo four years ago in order to pursue the areas of specialization in coaching that I was passionate about and I have zero regrets! I have so much gratitude for the privilege to do what I LOVE and to do it on my terms… and that gratitude flows out on my clients in a really positive way.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been a raw process of learning and failing forward. I was able to gain invaluable experience and training with the coaching company I started with, which laid an essential foundation for me. When the time came to launch on my own, I was in full pursuit of total freedom in the clients that I wanted to work with and how I wanted to operate as a coach.
It was liberating and 100% the right thing to do but SO challenging. I was starting from square one on my client list and learning how to run a business at the same time. I had to dig deep for clarity on who I was as a coach, what I had to offer, and how to reach the clients that I wanted to work with.
All of this was happening while I went through a difficult pregnancy, my husband was deployed, and my new baby and I figured out some serious health issues for both my son and myself. Life doesn’t stop to let you figure out your business and let’s be honest, your personal life and work life are deeply intertwined and impact each other in a big way. I had to learn how to prioritize like never before, recognize real needs in my business versus perceived needs, ask for help in the right places, and let the rest go!
You can’t have it all (that’s such a frustrating idea to chase), but you can have all the things that really matter to you. That concept has been a core motivating factor for me in how I support my clients and how I set the boundaries for my own work. It’s important for me to be fully present for my family and to show up for myself as well, and the beauty of entrepreneurship is that I have the freedom to set the necessary limits that enable and protect my priorities and the quality of my work.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I support and facilitate transformative change in people’s mindsets and actions, empowering them in the attainment of their goals and true fulfillment in life and work.
I’m a mindset, transformation, and growth coach for life and business. I am passionate about speaking belief into my clients to run unapologetically after their core callings and to pursue excellence in every aspect of their lives because that is what the world desperately needs. I’m known for being a visionary and big-picture thinker, while effectively connecting the details in a strategic and creative way. I am gifted at hearing the heart behind people’s blockages and dreams and speaking into that space.
I work with clients face-to-face and remotely, allowing me to meet them on their terms and affording me ultimate flexibility to weave my work into my family life, which is so important to me!
Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
I walked through some extraordinary experiences and challenges in the first 20 years of my life and it gifted me with fortitude and perseverance in the face of difficulty. It also gave me a wide breadth of life experience in a short amount of time that translated into deep care and empathy for people. I can see the gold in unlikely places and call it out, which is a powerful perspective not only for me in moving forward, but also for the people I work with.
I have to give credit to my parents as well who equipped me at a young age for “real life.” There was no bubble for me and entitlement was not a dynamic in our home. I learned about work ethic, personal responsibility, being solution-oriented and earning the things I wanted, and I think those mindsets are vital to being a healthy entrepreneur.
