Conversations with the Inspiring Katie Kilbane

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Kilbane.

Katie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m originally from New Mexico and made my way out to California two years ago with my boyfriend. He was offered a great career opportunity. I saw it as a way to explore a different part of the country. I was an event coordinator before moving and I landed in a career that gives me the freedom to build within my company and also build my personal goals. Fast forward to the now and I’m loving my coastal home. I’ve moved up in my company and seeking to excel further this year in a new role with them. I’m writing for my blog, Rosé Cheeks Lifestyle Blog, about life on the coast and taking full advantage of living so close to the beach.

Has it been a smooth road?
The hardest part about finding the things you enjoy or want to do next in this life is being patient. Patience is something I struggle with because we receive so much information in an instant. I’ve wanted to move up quickly in my career, yet that takes time and proof that you are capable of the next level. I’ve wanted to become a top read blog with followers on Instagram, yet that takes consistent dedication to posting, replying, reading, writing and repeating, and even then, it may not take off for a while. This part may not be smooth, but it is a part that needs to happen if you want things to happen. It’s exciting to be in the thick of it. It’s also exciting to accomplish goals. Be persistent and realize you’re capable of anything as long as you are patient to let things happen.

Please tell us about Rosé Cheeks Lifestyle Blog.
I currently work for a major athletic brand and they give me a lot of freedom to be whoever I want. They care so much about their people and their goals that I became empowered to write. I started Rosé Cheeks Lifestyle Blog about a year ago and focus on life in Southern California. My recent project includes highlighting the city of San Clemente. There is so much magic in this sleepy little beach town that I want to share it with people. My goal of this blog is to highlight the city, share my experiences and become an expert of where I live. I’m not native to California, yet I feel a strong connection to the coast and this city in particular. I’m proud to live in a place where people are always out in the community, waving to one another and supporting local businesses.

Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
Ask for feedback, seek out opportunities and be ready to fail. Failure isn’t always negative. It’s a space for you to try something new, again and again until you have success. Having that mindset will only propel you into a place that will allow for so much growth. We learn so much in school and the ways to complete our jobs, yet we still have so much social learning to do and not every situation will be like the last. Spend more time in these areas to really get the most of our your career.
