Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Lam.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My family roots are from Vietnam and we came to the United States in the early 80’s when I was about 1 year old.
We landed in a foreign country with pretty much just the clothes on our back and trying to adjust to the different ways of living. My parents within a few years ended up opening a very small family business for themselves. They struggled and worked very hard 7 days out of the week, so they don’t have to depend on anyone and till this day, after over 20 years, they still have the same business they are running but now they are working a lot less but making a lot more.
As a little girl growing up, watching my parents grow their business from nothing to something, makes me have that drive to be just like them. A strong independent entrepreneur.
My husband and I, we have 4 kids that we are raising and our own family business, we have been running for a little over 10 years now. With this business, I work out of my home and for that, I missed and craved for the face to face clientele interactions.
This is where Beautyfixx came to play. I have experience in the medical fields and I love everything about beauty so combining the two together just made perfect sense.
It’s been going great so far and now, we are working on opening a one-stop shop for your beauty fix next year.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing comes easy, especially being an entrepreneur.
When starting out, you will have a lot of what if’s and questioning yourself:
1. Do I have enough money?
2. Is this even a good idea or plan?
3. Will this make it?
4. Will anyone support me on this?
I had many failed attempts while growing up but I always tell myself and others.
You will never know if you don’t try!
But for the word “Successful.” Does not always mean being an entrepreneur, a doctor, a lawyer, etc. that you’re successful.
As long as your happy where your at and content, then you are successful!
What should we know about BeautyFixx By Kim? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
At BeautyFixx, I do microblading, Ombre, permanent makeup, tattoo removal and hopefully soon fibroblast.
I just love making people feel good about themselves and just love seeing the after effects.
Everyone has something they want to enhance or for some people they have some insecurities on certain areas of themselves and when they come to me, I felt very grateful and honored that they chose me to help them achieve their perfect look.
Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
Having a mentor is anyone you feel that helps you succeed or look up to.
It can be anyone around you, for example, my parents were my mentor.
Watching them and asking questions while growing up helped me on my journey.
But if there’s no one around you then there’s the internet, the biggest platform is social media.
FB, Instagram places like that has so many successful people with different backgrounds and walks of life that you can follow and learn things from. Don’t ever be afraid to ask people questions.
