Conversations with the Inspiring Olivia Sylvestro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Sylvestro.

Olivia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My entrepreneurial journey might be a little different than most because I woke up one day and decided to quit my job. I had been dreaming of owning my own business for a long time so I could make an impact by helping others and knew that I wasn’t going to be able to do that sitting in a cubicle. I would spend time at my job thinking of what I could do to not only influence others but to live my truth. So, I woke up and quit my job (two years ago) and have not looked back since.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, there are struggles! But, if it was easy, then everyone would do it! I think the biggest struggle for me has been figuring out where my place is in all of this and trying not to compare myself to others because you can get lost in that trap and that can keep you from pushing forward. My best advice would be to find a focus and stick to it because when I first started out I was trying to do too many things (which happens to most of us). As entrepreneurs and creatives, there is going to be a lot of things that you’re good at, but you need to find the one thing that not only you love, but is also going to make you money. If that’s one service, then take that one service and run it into the ground without any other distraction.

Another piece of advice is to niche down. I can’t remember who said this, “if you’re everything to everyone, you’ll be nothing to no one”, but it’s the best quote I’ve ever read about owning a business. You cannot help everyone, you just can’t and the sooner you realize this, the sooner you’ll have a successful business.

Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
First things first, I LOVE what I do! I am a brand and website designer for health and wellness businesses, so those who are spiritual healers, life coaches, health coaches, nutritionists, yoga instructors, personal trainers, cleaning living bloggers – AKA movers, shakers, conscious doers!

Since I can remember, I’ve wanted to make a difference in people’s lives and influence them to be the best possible version of themselves. With my design and marketing skills, I’m able to help those who help others, which is something I’m so proud of and grateful for. It gives me chills just thinking about it!

As a 200 RYT, manifestor in human design, oracle card reader and fitness enthusiast (hot HIIT anyone?), I am able to connect with my ideal clients on a different level than my competitors because I live in their space. When potential clients come to me and start talking about their Ayurveda practice or the gut health cleanse, I not only know what they’re talking about, I’ve probably tried it!

All of this allows me to connect with my clients on a deep level both in business and in personal life!

It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
Oh my gosh! All I do is read and listen to blog posts, so this is going to be tough. I read somewhere late last year that the average millionaire reads two books per month, so this is a habit I’ve been working on in 2019!

Entrepreneurship is not just about the skill that you have, but mostly about your mindset. If you want to start a business and don’t read – pick up these books STAT! If you don’t like reading GET AUDIBLE.

Books I think every entrepreneur should read: The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, Built to Sell, Atomic Habits, Building a StoryBrand, Braving the Wilderness (or literally anything by Brene Brown), You are a Badass

Podcasts: The Rise Podcast, The Sunny Show

Apps I couldn’t function without: Reminder (for gratitude and to read goals), Headspace, Co-Star, Google calendar, Shine, Audible, done.
