Today we’d like to introduce you to Precious Onyeise.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I can’t say modeling was something that I’ve wanted to do growing up, I kind of just adapted to loving the artistry behind the creative. Although I can say that when I was a little girl, I would always be in my mom’s room looking through her jewelry, perfume and makeup. I didn’t reach the age yet to wear heels but I would always wear my mom’s heels and strut around the house thinking I was something. I was constantly doing poses in the mirror. I loved watching America’s Next Top Model by Tyra Banks and loved seeing the transformation of the models on the show. The peak of my interest started sophomore year during high school when puberty really hit! I started to grow taller and my feminine features came in. A lot of my peers were telling me that I should start getting into modeling and that I’m photogenic but I really wasn’t thinking about it heavily especially since I was still in high school. It wasn’t until after I graduated high school, I started branching out to photographers. Once I turned 18, I did my very first professional photo shoot. Ever since then, I’ve done shoots, commercials, video shoots and been to casting calls for fashion shows. I am an aspiring model but ever since I’ve done this, I’ve learned the importance of professionalism and networking especially in this industry.
Has it been a smooth road?
Challenges that I’ve faced when it came to this industry was balancing school, work and my creative as well as getting constant rejections. I am not a signed model yet but I want to become one or at least be some type of influence. People start to feel down or lose their confidence when they get rejected in any kind of work field. What it’s really about is how you bounce back from those rejections and focus more on the opportunities ahead. If you focus solely on fear and negativity, that’ll continuously be the factor of your reality. I think what’s really important with following your dreams is being consistent and committed to what you do. Your dedication and your passion is what should drive you regardless of the constant rejections and sacrifices you make. If you’re true to yourself and what you want, you’ll be living the dream you were destined to live.
Tell us more about your work.
A lot of people especially through my social platform know me as someone who models. I think what sets me apart from others is my humility, patience, passion and creative thinking. There’s a lot more things that I am going to start doing in the upcoming decade, like act, start a channel and start creating debut outfits for my clothing line.
Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
Don’t rush the process. Be familiar with the business and accept everything and don’t expect anything.
