Conversations with the Inspiring Robyn Lynn A’chey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robyn Lynn A’chey.

Robyn Lynn, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a born and raised Jersey girl and grew up in a small town outside of Philly. I moved to Los Angeles the summer I graduated high school to pursue my dreams of dancing professionally. My cousins all lived in Cali so we had been coming out to the west coast consistently since the time I was a baby and I always knew I was going to live here. I was 18 (young and naïve AF) and was thrown into the crazy world of the entertainment industry. The constant intensity and the struggles of being so young and on your own for the first time in a place like Hollywood can REALLY teach you a lot- and I did some serious growing up during the eight years I spent there. But my experiences were exhilarating and a total dream come true. I had the opportunity to work in both the dance world and in the casting/production world. I signed with a major agency and worked on TV shows, commercials, films and music videos. I learned from and danced with some of the top choreographers and artists in the biz.

That lifestyle quickly made me burn out and I knew it was time to fulfill my life’s true destiny: being a mother. I moved out of the city and settled down in North County, SD. I married my high school sweetheart in 2013 and three months later, I got pregnant with my son, Kayden. He’s five now and we also have a daughter, named Charlie who is two. They’re best friends and my heart feels like it’s constantly exploding out of my chest.

From the time I was a little girl, I knew I would be a mom someday. I knew it would be “a lot of work” and I knew I would love the SHIT out of my kids (that love is beyond what I ever could’ve dreamed btw). I just had NO IDEA that in birthing my children- I would re-birth myself as well. My experiences with two all-natural home births, multiple miscarriages, and my life as a full-time mother of two have been profoundly transforming- even though at times it has brought me to my knees. The outlook I have on life, on my body, and the power of being a woman has completely changed. The spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical shift that took place within me has led me to my ultimate truth: I am more powerful than I EVER could’ve imagined.

Motherhood feels like an invitation to rediscover myself and redefine my life on every level. I’ve learned that if I want to show up for my kids wholeheartedly- and if I want my family, friends, and community to experience the highest most authentic version of who I really am- then I have to consciously nurture and love myself the same way I do my kids. This equal exchange of energy creates balance in my life and allows me to stay in my flow no matter what’s going on outside of me. I’ve learned that balance comes when we know who we are and what we need. It is something that is created from within.

I never would’ve guessed that motherhood is where I would find myself. Loving my kids taught me to love me.

I’m currently building a full lifestyle brand called, “Postpartum Vitality” based off of the book I’m writing, “Balancing from the Heart”. I want women to get excited about this process and to feel motivated and inspired to nurture/take care of themselves in a way they never have before!!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’d say this road is an unpredictable one with absolutely no set route. Sometimes it feels smooth and a lot of the time it feels bumpy but often that’s where we learn and grow the most. I think that’s the beauty in all of this. If we look within, we find that we already have all the tools we need to navigate any situation that comes our way. My advice for other women and new moms especially would be to take the pressure off of yourself. Know that this is a process and it doesn’t have to be just one way. Let go of any and all expectations and just focus on what FEELS best for you and your family. Surrender the guilt, let go of the shame, judgment, and doubt. Take care of your own self- physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually- now more than ever. When your cup is full, it will give you the space to get up and do what you do every day. Know that it IS possible to create and live the life of your dreams.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Pre & Postpartum Vitality story. Tell us more about it.
Over the last six years, I’ve been writing about my journey- and am currently developing it into my first book called, “Balancing from the Heart: A Conscious Mother’s Guide to Pre & Postpartum Vitality.” This personalized and interactive holistic guide is a compilation of my insights, guidance, personal stories, health and wellness exercises, meal plans, resources, inspo and so much more- and features tips and tools to cultivate mindful living, practice conscious parenting, and live a healthy life- body, heart, and mind.

Magic happens when you get out of your head and live from your heart. This is the foundation for the book and all the work I do. Activate your power, transform your fears, and feel confident and connected to self- in pregnancy, motherhood and beyond.

I specialize in sacred mothers’ circles, dance and fitness classes, day and weekend retreats, private events/sessions, wellness programs and more! My variety of classes and events are charged with intention and connection and are meant to get you grounded and feeling revived.

The vision of my brand, “Postpartum Vitality” is to create a whole new paradigm for the way we look at and talk about pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. I’m proud to be shifting the focus for the mothers and families of today to highlight the more transformative sides of this powerful process. In our society, it feels like we’re conditioned to fear pregnancy… fear birth… fear parenting. It’s as if we get put through a certain “system” right from the beginning. This “system” is old and outdated and is lacking the deeper support that’s needed for the emotional depths of this journey.

My goal is to grow a (badass -duh!) community of women who are redefining motherhood, honing and owning their skills, inspiring and supporting each other, and who have a mission to collectively heal the world by raising good humans.

Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
Your heart knows the way. Listen.
