Today we’d like to introduce you to Shear Ann Brick.
Shear Ann, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m also known as “SHEAR BEAR” from my growing Fashion Blog on Instagram. I’m originally from the Philippines, now I am currently residing between San Diego, CA and San Antonio, TX. I started my microblog two years ago, back when my blog was more like into fitness, traveling or a place for random thoughts and ideas but I was missing something. I needed to dedicate part of my time to one of the things I am most passionate for which is Fashion. January 25, 2017, was the actual date I posted my very first #ootd on Instagram and I told my fiancé I want to turn my page into a Fashion blog! With hard work and consistency, now I have over 140k followers and I’m sponsored and worked with over 80 national and International brands such as H&M, Public Desire, Delsey-US, REVLON, Charlotte Tilbury, Boxycharm, etc. Recently, I was awarded as the 2018 San Antonio Fashion Blogger of the Year by StyleLush TV and Saks Fifth Avenue.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say that every great thing has its fair share of challenges. Starting out it was difficult to get sponsorship and collaboration with brands. I had to show that I was unique and express my creativity. I am so blessed that my fiancé also has a very creative eye, he is my official photographer and partner through this amazing journey. I was consistent with creating eye-catching photos showing off my versatile style then I started to be contacted by brands after brands. As my Instagram page grew, so did the amount of content I had to create. Balancing my full-time career as a marketing consultant and my blog is and always will be trying, but I learned to take advantage of it. I am a huge fan of architecture. When I am working in a different city, I would find the most beautiful structures and landmarks to take photos and showcase my outfits to my followers. It helped grow my presences throughout the country and build my following. The best advice I can give to anyone who is just starting their journey is… to surround yourself with positive thoughts and supportive people. Do not let yourself or anyone else second guess your dream. Be consistent, focus on what you really want, and be kind.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a Fashion Blogger and an Instagram Influencer with Marketing consulting experience for over ten years. I showcase what’s trending in Fashion and create piece after piece of high quality engaging content for my brands and my amazing followers. From casual wear, colorful street style and to romantic gowns.
I do believe in order to stand out from the crowd, I need to be creative to produce large volumes of unique content. Fashion to me is a mode of self-expression in a lot of ways. I don’t think that I have a particular style since I wear what I like and that changes from time to time or every morning. I draw inspiration from anything and everything around me. It’s like when I see a new trending color or piece of clothing, I want to incorporate it into my wardrobe and express my own self through it. When you feel your best, you look your best. It portrays confidence and the “I can do anything” attitude. I love to see someone feeling that way because of their OOTD. That’s what inspires me, to help get one more person to abolish their insecurities and rock their true self.
I love engaging and building a relationship with my followers. I will say I met a lot of talented and genuine people that I have become friends with throughout my journey. Thanks to my blog!
My goal is to spread my biggest platform which is “Being authentic, being you and being kind is the most trending style.” I want to inspire more people not only in our city but all over the world.
Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
My mom had the biggest impact on my passion in fashion.
When I was a kid, I love watching my mom in her closet picking what she would wear for work and I would help her to decide what heels she would wear from her shoe collection. Then, I would stare at her while she’s putting her make up on. She would always say to me “It’s good to be remembered by your outfit but it’s better to be remembered by your kindness.”
