Conversations with the Inspiring Stacy Vizcarra

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Vizcarra.

Stacy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I can always remember watching my mother get ready in the morning. She would take her eyebrow pencil and carefully arch her brow and put her “face on,” as she called it. I was always so impressed with how my mother always looked her best before stepping out of the house. Fast forward to my twenties and I was managing a chiropractor office when the MAC girls would come in to be adjusted looking so immaculate with their makeup. So after daily questions about what they were wearing and me running home to practice on myself, I applied at MAC. I can remember one night I was selected to do the backup dancers makeup for Missy Elliott during her “First Ladies Tour,” with Beyoncé and Alicia Keys. Seeing backstage these women perform was unreal! The energy was electric! From then on, I was forever in love with doing makeup! I worked for MAC for 10 years and moved onto work for Chanel and Tom Ford.

I had two kids and decided to take some time off to just be a mom with makeup just on the side. Now that my kids are a little bigger I can put more energy into my business. Trying to be it all! Supermom, wife and entrepreneur! Mom Boss! My love for makeup lies in seeing people feel their best. When I hand them the mirror and they light up, that is magical! I get to work with some pretty amazing women who are so inspirational and supportive to me and my business. I love supporting women and learning something from them every time I do their makeup. Lifting each other up gives me great light and keeps me driving my business forward!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think to understand that not everyone wants the IG Makeup and really listening to your customer about what she wants. Bringing out peoples natural beauty will always be in style! Find your niche and stick to it! We aren’t made to be the same we are made to stand out in our own way. How boring would it be if we were all cookie cutter?

I always struggled with trying to be perfect and in doing so went through a time of low self-esteem. I felt my work never matched up. Now I realize, that my style is loved just as much as another artist. Be true to you! If you are going to compare do so with the work you did a year ago and see how far you’ve come. That is really the only way to measure success.

what should we know about Stacy V Makeup? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I would say my style of makeup is a natural glam. I love making people look like themselves just elevated. Don’t get me wrong a dramatic glam is so fun and I at 20 something was all about it but now that I’m 41, shhh… don’t tell, I really admire bringing out the natural beauty that everyone has.

Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
As I stated before, my mother always looked so well put together everywhere we went. She was so talented with all things beauty. She was a seamstress who made wedding gowns. I always watched how she would listen to her client and design such beautiful gowns and make them come to life! We would stay up late sewing beads on the delicate lace all while she watching TV. She was such a hard worker and always so talented with her art. Just like makeup is my art, sewing wedding dresses was her’s.
