Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Brune.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Taylor. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
For many years, I searched for answers as to why my health had disappeared in a matter of moments. My first diagnosis was in 2012 when I was in the ICU on my death bed due to a failed pancreas from a viral infection. At the age of 21 I was diagnosed with a life altering disease, Type One Diabetes. From then on, organ after organ began to go into acute failures and I became bed ridden. I had visited over 20 specialists in California to find what was killing me, and not one of them had the answer. Doctor after doctor shrugged their shoulders telling me it was anxiety and that I needed to take medication to fix the problem. Well, this was not the case. After years of praying to God for direction, I began to search elsewhere to find my healing. I found an alternative doctor who immediately ran tests on me and diagnosed me with Lyme Disease. This diagnosis was a game changer. I started Lyme treatment immediately in 2014 and from the moment I began that first herx, my entire life fell apart. I became bedridden sick from treatment. My life was completely flipped upside down. I felt as though I was drowning in a black hole, never to find the light again. I became depressed and alone. I gained the patient victim mentality, where nothing was my fault and I just had bad luck. This negative mindset and heart set landed me in a place called, rock bottom.
It wasn’t until I woke up one day realizing my life was completely shattered, my relationships were completely shattered and my spiritual identity was lost, that I had to make a change. I broke down and surrendered every problem, disease, discouragement, broken piece of my heart before God in hopes that he would hear my cry and rescue me from the depths of suffering. At that moment, I felt like God touched my heart and filled me with a greater sense of confidence in who he is and his goodness. From that moment on, as I pursued God more and more, I began to heal. My life began to transform, piece by piece. Each area was beginning to become redeemed and restored through his grace and love. I’ve spent the past three years dedicated to transforming my life inside and out, and it has been the most rewarding journey and gift that I have ever received.
Through this process of transformation, I was led to the right doctors who knew which tests to run to find the answers to my puzzle of a body. With each diagnosis, it was a sigh of relief, another piece to the puzzle put into place. I was diagnosed with; endometriosis, type 1 diabetes, Hashimoto’s, Lyme disease, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, and chronic Epstein Barr. These diseases are life-long and it has been difficult learning to manage them all, but I have been able to come to the conclusion through this process that these are only diagnoses; these are not my identity. These diseases do not destroy who I am as an individual. Nor do they destroy my chance at making an impactful future as a doctor. I may have been very sick in the past 8 years, but God is healing me every day. From being bedridden to being in remission from Lyme disease is a miracle. Both God and I have worked insanely hard on turning my life from toxicity to healthy. Healing one’s mind, body and spirit is vital to one’s happiness and soul satisfaction. God has set me free from the chains that once held me captive, and is building me a stronger, more inspirational life than it was before. I created this platform in hopes that I could share everything that I have learned throughout this healing process, so that others may begin their own healing journey: mind, body, and spirit.
One important lesson I have learned is that just because we as humans experience some type of suffering, it does not mean our life ends, it does not mean our dreams are shattered, and it does not mean we will not be used for a more impactful life.
“Not only so, but we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”-Romans 5:3-5
Because of this truth, the passion for the pursuit of a deeper relationship with God has transformed my mind, body, spirit, and life.
Now that I am stronger mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually, God has opened doors for me to pursue my dreams of becoming a doctor.
I am also certified as an integrative health coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, New York.
With each of these accomplishments being fulfilled, I am overjoyed to know that, what once was impossible and out of reach, is now within reach and completely possible because of God.
Each portion of suffering I experienced in the past eight years, has been completely redeemed and restored by God.
My relationships are thriving with my friends, family and myself. I overcame depression and now feel constant joy and delight. And I have become an instrument of God’s beautiful love to show the world that with a little faith, hope and trust, one can experience a life of healing and freedom from suffering.
There is hope in hopelessness, light in the darkness, and faith in suffering. Know this, that we are never alone, that there is a God who loves us and wants to heal us, that it is never too late to transform your life, and that healing is possible, even when it feels impossible.
Has it been a smooth road?
When I was younger, I did not expect my life to turn out the way it did. I did not expect to live through my biggest fear, of getting sick and having to face all my fears on a daily basis. But I also did not expect the courage and strength that was grown in me, to fight for my life and my future. And eventually, that fight led me to overcome the darkest time of my life. Through my healing journey, I have faced so many different types of struggles, from having to drop out of college, to being a full-time patient, to losing loved ones, to my mother becoming sick and facing death, to loss of jobs, and to the loss of myself. In these struggles, I became humbled and pruned into growth. I developed a growth mindset, to get rid of the victim mindset. Through these struggles, I remained strong in my faith in Jesus Christ, which anchored me, for when doubt and fear would overtake me. My faith is what set in motion the desire of more for my life. It grew within me the passion to find my purpose in my pain. And that purpose was to learn how to heal so that my experiences could help others heal their lives. Through my platform of writing, to my future medical practice as a doctor. I believe every individual is on their own journey for healing. It’s just a matter if they are passive or active about pursuing healing. One does not need to have Lyme disease like me to be encouraged by my story. My story is about showing others that no matter what they face in this life, they are never alone. And that there is always hope for change. Change within ourselves, and our circumstances. My advice for anyone who is wanting to make changes in their life, and bring healing to their mind, body, and spirit, is to never give up hope, to always have faith in yourself, in others, and in God’s never-ending goodness, and to always root yourself in love and grace.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Hearts in Bloom story. Tell us more about it.
My platform is called, Hearts in Bloom. It is something I am currently growing into one day being my medical practice. Right now while I finish pre-medical studies and apply for medical schools, I wanted to build this platform to help others seek healing for their own lives. I am a certified Medical Assistant, and a certified integrative nutritional coach, as well as finishing up my BS degree in Integrative health at Arizona State University online. The intent behind Hearts in Bloom is to make a greater and purposeful impact on the lives who come across my writing. I am in the process of expanding it and cultivating creative projects to help aid people in their healing journeys. What sets Hearts in Bloom apart is the heart behind the brand. Hearts in Bloom is for people who seek to heal their lives by transforming their minds, bodies, and spirits from the inside out. It is a place for people to come and share their stories, dreams, and hopes. It is a place where one can come find hope, faith, and support when one feels discouraged and alone. Hearts in bloom is more than a website that offers advice, it is a community of life changes. When one’s own personal life is transformed, the lives around them will also be transformed. We hope that you leave this site with better hope, support, faith and a better grip on healing.
The purpose behind Hearts in Bloom is: Let us walk beside one another on this transformation journey of healing one’s mind, body and spirit from the brokenness that suffering produces, to a life of purpose and to a heart that BLOOMS. Let us be fruitful in the way we live and treat others around us. Let us spread God’s love and light to hearts that have given up hope. Let us be rooted in the foundation of spiritual maturity and love. Let us express words of encouragement, and power into the lives of others. And let us always remember who we are and whose we are.
Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
There are many talented and creative souls in this world, and being able to connect with other beings truly opens up a life-changing experience. With every person I meet, I try and get to the root of who they are and what their gifts and talents are. Being able to encourage others to live as their best self is truly rewarding. This has led me to connect with many incredible mentors who have given me incredible advice, and guidance. I believe connecting with others is a very fulfilling experience and would suggest anyone who wants to make an impact on their life, as well as other’s lives, to connect with other beautiful souls. When we surround ourselves with other souls who are aligned with our values, goals, intentions, and passions, we set forth in motion an incredibly impactful inspiration that sets the soul on fire.
