Conversations with the Inspiring Taylor Sabree

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Sabree.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Taylor. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After serving 4 years in the United States Army, I decided to move back to San Diego. At the time, I was going through a divorce as well and felt it would be better to be with family. To help me cope, I started to write poetry again. I performed poetry at various locations for a little over a year. While doing so, I met my then mentor, Gil Sotu. He approached me about acting and wanted me to audition for a part in his debut play H.E.R.O.E.S. From that moment on I fell in love with acting. Although poetry is very important to me, acting is therapeutic and cathartic. I would go on to be in two music videos, three plays, one feature film, two short films.

Having a love for makeup veered me off my acting path. I see women’s faces as a canvas. I want to help accentuate their beauty. I’ve been able to perform makeup artistry for a feature film and a local magazine owner. At the end of each session, the gasp of satisfaction is what makes me feel accomplished.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road for me hasn’t been smooth at all. I suffer from a disease called PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). It causes cysts to form on the ovaries, during or around ovulation. Because of this, I had to quit my job at MCRD. Which several affected my income. I just kept the faith that things would get better. There hospital visits to the emergency room for 2 years straight. I was able to have surgery to remove the cyst on my left ovary. Since that ovary was so problematic, I had it removed 6 months later after the first surgery. I couldn’t do anything physically strenuous. Everything was put on hold until I completely healed.

Then, I found out I was pregnant for the 6th time. Unfortunately, I miscarried for the 6th time. I spent Christmas day of 2017 in the hospital. My faith in God keeps me going. I have to believe that everything happens for a reason. It hurts extremely so but I know, I will be a mother when it is time.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Taylor Sabree story. Tell us more about the business.
Currently, I am perfecting my makeup craft by attending Bellus Academy. I also write. I have published two books. I direct. I’ve directed a music video and two short films.

It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
