Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Kleiner.
Whitney, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a military wife, our life is crazy being stationed all around the world and often being separated as a family. I decided not to practice nursing once we were stationed here in San Diego, I wanted to stay home with our new born. While it is an incredible gift to stay at home with her, I felt like I lost a little bit of myself in the world of motherhood. So, my blog Positively Posie became an outlet for me, I always loved taking photos and documenting so starting a blog seemed so right! I’ve been able to incorporate my love of nursing and health more and more into my posts and will continue to blog as I start practitioner school this summer. My hope is that Positively Posie can be a place of inspiration for women who are dedicated to positivity, health, fashion, beauty and motherhood.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Obviously, there are challenges when we start any new venture in life. For me, the challenge is balancing my time between blogging, being a mom/wife and now nurse practitioner school. There are days when I feel like I need be spending more time writing content but then I remember the laundry needs to get done. That’s the way life goes and it’s okay because it all gets done at some point!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Positively Posie Blog story. Tell us more about the business.
I think what sets Positively Posie apart are the topics I discuss, I want to bring realness to the world of blogging. I do my best to balance fun fashion/beauty posts with candid posts about what motherhood is really like or talking about common health issues. I also do my best to be honest about my own appearance, because in the world of blogging and Instagram it’s hard to see what’s real and what’s photoshopped.
Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
I think it is really important to connect with bloggers through social media. I have been able to connect and learn so much from some wonderful San Diego bloggers that I met through Instagram. It can be intimidating but just reach out and ask for tips from bloggers in your area!
