Conversations with Aisha

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aisha

Hi Aisha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I loved standing IN FRONT of my grandma’s old Sony camera since I was just a year old. That changed when technology advanced to the point where it could trace everybody’s footsteps back to the time they were born and possibly even beyond. Morphed pictures and creepy edited faces? Not for me! The Internet has the power and freedom to do whatever it wants with my picture… That’s when I pulled back from what society portrays as normal. Didn’t share my face, my location or my voice. I AM the observer. Capturing moments that would last forever. Our family trips in Europe and Africa. Family dinners. Nature. Fashion. My friends. And parties!

I grew up in Cologne, Germany and Alexandria, Egypt. Fluent in both languages and English. I also speak Polish and un peu français.

I purchased my first SLR camera 8 years ago and have been shooting with the same model since. I’ve added a little bit of equipment over the years, like lenses, filters and a good flash. That’s all I shoot with.
This is just the beginning, so expect more to come!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I felt nothing but support from the PEOPLE around ME.
To the people who once stole my camera, lens and flash: I hope you’re happy:)

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My special sauce is long exposure photography in dark rooms with lights—any kind of lights. The more, the better. Parties are dead nowadays, so the only reason I attend is to bring some life back into it. I AM THE LIFE OF THE PARTY. When I flick my camera to capture those good light effects in my photos, half of the time I don’t know how they will turn out, because every shot is unique. I am moving, the people around me are moving, so if I miss the moment, I MISS THE MOMENT. I mostly get it, though. Hah.

I love a good still picture. A unique landscape or a busy street photo always balances the vibe.
I edit my pictures with my phone.

What matters most to you?
HAVING FUN.
Good compositions.
Making people feel and look good.
Diversity! In every way!
