Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up, I was always struggling with skin irritations, chronic cough and various other health issues that led me to learn more about my own health and what may be causing my health issues. It was always so frustrating as doctors never seemed to have any answer for any of it other than to come in and get routine allergy shots. For me, that was not an option as I knew that would not actually treat the root cause of the issue but mask it, instead! So, I set out to figure out what may be behind my issues and quickly learned how toxic the products and food we use each day was. Learning how toxic our beauty products are and how much of our food is not real food at all inspired my mission to find better products not only for myself, but everyone else too!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Owning your own business brings endless challenges, especially being an online “personality” as people, at times, feel entitled to dictating your every move which was a struggle for me to not only understand but to endure. Someone always has something negative to say so that was a big adjustment for me. Even after almost 10 years in business, it can be frustrating to deal with. For me, it’s not in the sense of it hurting my feelings because I honestly do not worry about opinions of those not doing the work themselves, but the entitlement of it all is something I was not prepared for. You have to have real thick skin and stick to what works best for you and your business, otherwise you will be people pleasing on the regular and that can be disruptive to your own vision and plans!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I own a clean beauty business that carries over 6,000 different products for the entire family that are all non-toxic, organic, or natural! I love all things girly and glam, though, so I wanted to only invest in the products that truly work! So, I read the labels for you, essentially, to ensure you are using only the best, most clean and safe products around that also work well. We carry items for men, women, kids, babies, teens and even products for your pets!
What’s next?
I would love to expand into a retail location at some point, when the economy is more responsive to that model of business again as it seems so many brick and mortar stores are closing right now. I also have plans to launch more of my own products and just plan to continue to invest back into the business as much as I can!
