Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley-Marie leek
Hi Ashley-Marie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I come from a mother of 5 and my siblings and I are close friends. We’ve moved a lot, so I
pretty much have friends in several states. My mother struggled raising us at times and seeing
that struggle made me realize that I wanted to do something with my life. I consider myself a
hustler and I make opportunities when there are none. Hard work and ambition are my drug.
I’ve always liked fashion and took every opportunity I could to be around photographers and
makeup artists. I think I was around 14 years old when I did my first photoshoot. I was
absolutely hooked at that point. I began to make a lot of friends that were heavy in the industry
and before I knew it was hanging out with artists in the industry and doing modeling gigs as well
as VIP club events. Throughout my childhood I was always challenging myself. I modeled,
dabbled in recording and I am a decent sketch artist.
I needed to figure out what I could do that I would enjoy and have something to leave to my
children. When my mother, sister and I were chatting we decided we all enjoy shopping as well
as fashion so why not. I could use my influence to start a retail business. It started very slow,
as we would do vendor set ups in outdoor malls and local venues. Then we launched it to a
website which does okay. Recently, we have been over-hauling the entire site with different
clothing vendors known for quality clothing. The goal is to bring our online boutique to a brick
and mortar.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been much slower than you would think. Life has been the biggest struggle. Life gets in
the way of any great plans we have. Harder to collaborate when we were all on 3 different
coasts. I was on the east coast and my mother in the Midwest and finally my sister on the west
coast. Little did I know that I would end up on the west coast as well. Then putting career on
hold to have children which I wouldn’t say is an obstacle but a stumbling block on the road to
building an empire and that is the goal.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Wow, how can people work with me or support me? Hmm. Investors in our vision is helpful.
That can be as small all supporting by purchasing from the site or as large as a financial advisor
in a vision with a percentage cut. Investors can sow a seed of knowledge of what works and
what does not. When you are sharing our content or posting positivity about Lexi-Ash, you are
an investor and that is very welcome on all levels.
I would also like to feature personal brands on the site, like local brands that have a finished
product with the licensing especially in skin care and beauty. So partnering with a brand is
something we have discussed. Finally, we are developing a clothing line that just represents us so stay tuned to see more!
