Today we’d like to introduce you to Azriella Mangum.
Hi Azriella, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Azriella Mangum and I am 27 years old. I was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. I am an Active-Duty Service Member in the United States Navy and am currently stationed in San Diego, CA. I have been in the Navy for 5 years. I have always been a go-getter since I was a child. On active duty, I completed my Master’s in Business Administration from American Military University in hopes of having a successful business of my own to produce additional income. My end goal was to make enough money in my business so that I can have sufficient income, be my own boss, and eventually feel comfortable to leave the Navy to do my business full time. I think high and dream big and wanted to create generational wealth for my family and I. Initially, I started my business back in 2020 only selling women’s handbags and shoes but it was not a passion. As time went on, I saw an opportunity to learn lashes and thought it would be a great lucrative business. I took the class and realized that I like doing lash extensions and it was more than just additional income. I enrolled at Bellus Academy and although my education there was not great, I took it upon myself to fully dive into skincare, esthetics, and learn all I could about promoting healthy skin. Moving forward I graduated from Bellus Academy and become a Licensed Esthetician. Currently, I am starting my skincare line and launching my first product in June of 2023. I have taken a variety of classes and furthered my education in many esthetic services. All my services include beautifying the face. I offer a variety of services like facials such as derma planning, last extensions, brow tint, ombre powder brows, and more. In addition, I offer lash training at a very affordable price which comes with a full professional lash kit, vendors list, a certification of completion, and more. My suite is located in El Cajon at Phenix Salon Suites Suite 122 where I provide an experience for each customer that comes my way. I love what I do, and I love making clients happy and watching their skin change for the good as well as making them feel confident. Nevertheless, I want to have unlimited wealth and multiple sources of income. I know if I keep putting in the work, I will get to the level that I want, the motive is already there.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all but why would it be? For one to be successful, there will be challenges. My challenges were my Navy work schedule and trying to balance clients. Initially, I could not take clients as often as I wanted to because I did not have a steady schedule and it was frustrating. In addition, not being able to get a suite right away was frustrating too. I had to do my clients in my house which is not ideal for a business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In the Navy, I am an Operations Specialist. When I am out to sea I maintain surveillance, drive aircraft, and ensure our radars are working properly. While I am not out to sea typically, I will do admin work. Off Duty, as a Licensed Esthetician I make women feel confident by beautifying their faces. I create an experience for them from the time they book their appointment to the time they check out. I specialize in skin, lashes, and brows. I am known for my great skin and how well I take care of it. I am most proud of pushing through with continuing to do my business although personal challenges came up.
