Conversations with Bianca Reyes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bianca Reyes

Hi Bianca, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Bianca Reyes, I’m an Illustrator/Graphic Designer. This is my second interview with SD Voyager and I’m very happy to be back and talk a little bit more about where I am now.

A lot of things have changed since then, both personal and professionally. I recently had a job in the candy/novelty industry as a Graphic Artist that gave me the opportunity to learn more about product development and how to incorporate my designs according to the product.
I found that job to be very fun because I had the opportunity to create illustrations and characters for such products.

Unfortunately, I feel like while life caught up on me in a positive way, I slowly stopped sharing my work. So, I have been thinking lately that I would like to start sharing my work again and putting myself out there as an independent artist.

I recently had a change of branding name from Miss Cosmic Bianca to Madame Cosmic Bianca I felt It was more appropriate to me for some reason haha.

My plan right now is to continue building on my own branding as an artist.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s very difficult for me to be on top of trends and social media, as with time I’ve come to realize I’m not a big social media person. To this date I do not own a TikTok account and I doubt I will get one in the near future as I’m afraid to be there for hours haha

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I consider myself as an illustrator/graphic designer because I mix the two skills in my art, not only I do layouts with graphics but if i have the chance to create the graphic myself, I will do it. I will do all of it haha.

Working in the candy/novelty industry I had the chance to have my designs across some of the biggest retailers nationally and internationally, so in terms of my career, that’s what I am most proud of.

At the moment I am working in having my own products, I was lucky enough to get a table this year for DesignerCon at Las Vegas on November 15-17 and I am incredibly excited to have a chance to showcase more of my personal work in real life. I truly believe is a big milestone for my career as an independent artist.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I used to be a very shy kid, art has always been like, a escape to another world, I believe it still is. Any kind of art, especially music, I like to listen to the layers of a song and figure out how the artist came up with that composition.

I was very into cartoons, I believe i watched most of what was shown in the 90s and the 2000s haha. And animated Disney movies, specially the 2D ones. All of those cartoons inspired me to take art more serious as a career because it was not only funny characters doing something it was, the expressions, the movements, how did they come up with certain concepts and why. Since a very young age I started growing an interest for these arts.
