Conversations with Brian Osorio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Osorio.

Hi Brian, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Well, I grew up in the outskirts of town on a mountain by San Vicente Dam Hunting rattlesnakes was the everyday normal thing to do. Being outdoors was life.

After the ceader fires everything changed. We were forced to move to another mountain off El Monte where I picked up my first skateboard and the shred began, not knowing where it would take me and how much of a difference it would make and the people I’d meet along the way.

Being poor class made it difficult to get into town to skate spots or getting gear.

Eventually, I joined a recreational club where I was taken on field trips. Skateparks (I was part of getting signatures for a petition to get the lakeside skatepark) surf camps and snowboarding were introduced to me, and I became instantly hooked on just rippin as much as I could every day.

Making new friends and having a skate krew. We did camp trips and rock-climbing days too which were just appreciating nature for me.

Fast forward to now. I’m still doing everything I grew up doing. Just on my own. I’ll be heading to bear a lot this winter and surfing a lot. I got into photography, so I’ve been working a lot on getting better with that. I suck at finishing, but I still take my kayak out and cast out. Making small blogs

Just enjoying life as much as I can

Just a high passion for shredding and nature and the little things. San Diego is the best for this lifestyle

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t think anyone has a smooth road. Just a matter of how you can overcome the obstacles Yeah life is easier for some especially with more income families and riders, but shredding is always difficult nothing easy about it. Extremely physically painful and mentally gotta be fearless in a way. Gotta get back up from injuries and realize we do what we love and let it kill us. It’s worth it. We’re riders. We know the risks. Push limits.

Injuries and money are the main struggles.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve always been in construction. Switched a lot of companies

From underground utilities to grading to electrical to arborist to operating heavy machinery

I’m definitely a character at work. Just a wild cat. I’m just super proud that I’m a hard-working individual who shows up n shows out. Some people just aren’t cut out for this lifestyle

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Time waits for no one. So, spend it with the people you love and doing the things you love. Happiness and love is the key to life
