Conversations with Carl Hulle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carl Hulle.

Carl Hulle

Hi Carl, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was always trying to scratch a creative itch, whether it was photography, drawing, graphic design, writing poems, or making clothes. Once I stumbled upon screenprinting with a class my highschool offered, I realized that my creativity can be something that I can make a living off of. I’ve been off to the races ever since then starting several clothing businesses. After 3 failed attempts I have found one that works in the 4th attempt. Second Chance Clothing & Creations ( SC3 for short) is a perfect blend of what I wanted my first 3 businesses to be without the lies and headaches. It’s just me, myself, and I putting in the work but that way, all the work can get done and at the pace that I know it can be pushed to. Screenprinting and embroidery is something I love to do and I’m so happy that with SC3 I get to share my love with the world around me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. The first clothing business I started, the ownership was stolen from me. I made the business, business model, name, logo, everything… but my business partner at the time got an LLC and only put his name on it effectively stealing 100% of the ownership for himself. The very next clothing business I was apart of I was being led on with false promises of ownership. And the third clothing business I was apart of didn’t honor a verbal agreement of ownership we had. Although the road to my current successes hasn’t been smooth, I am grateful for all of my “bad apples” because they have provided me with valuable lessons to learn from and I wouldn’t be where I am today had I not learned those harsh lessons.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in embroidery, screenprinting, photography, graphic design, videography, and I also do custom work aswell. I am most proud of the fact that I am operating SC3 100% myself, nobody can take that away from me. What sets me apart from others is my ability to screenprint AND embroider, as well as providing options for custom embroidery/screenprinting/and design work. I film most of my work and make videos out of the footage for my Instagram/tiktok/youtube

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters to me most is showing the world that whatever your deepest passion in life is, there is a way to turn your passion into something that can provide for you financially. You don’t have to cast your passion to the way side and play it safe or join the rat-race. If you find what you love to do, just keep doing it in whatever capacity you can and if you stay consistent it will happen eventually. I am living proof.
