Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassidy Kmetz.
Hi Cassidy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I first joined social media, my “social media personality” was actually the exact OPPOSITE of what you would expect after looking at my social media today! I was painfully shy and liked keeping to myself. I posted mainly artsy, “VSCO vibe” photos and my friends were always asking why I would never post photos that showed my face. Well, there were two problems… 1. I was SO hard on myself when it came to photos of myself and 2. My mom wasn’t exactly the best photographer! At the time, I was so hyper focused on my soccer career and had no plans to pursue a path in social media. I accepted a spot on the Olympic Development Team and was nominated to try out for the junior US National Team, so I was super eager and excited to see it through!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Right when I was at my peak, I fell off of a skateboard while going down a big hill and went into a coma for a week to soon be diagnosed with a Traumatic Brain Injury with a fractured skull, subdoral hematoma, hearing loss, and a very slim chance of living. I know right?! It caught me off guard too. Moral of the story: Although this meant my soccer career was over, I went through a deep awakening and realized that I was given a second chance at life to show people that THEY TOO have the power to overcome any obstacle they face and inspire them to live a healthy, well-fulfilled lifestyle because it can be taken away from you at any given time.
During this self-awakening” period, l came to the realization that at the end of the day, all you have as yourself and there’s no sense in being so shy and reserved when you were given the chance to be on this earth to experience life to the fullest and share YOUR unique voice. And that’s exactly what I decided to do. I met my boyfriend Joey, and we started traveling and doing a bunch of new, fun, and exciting things and posting it on social media. Major “creds” to Joey, by the way, for taking so many candid photos of me wherever we went until I was convinced enough to post one! I started posting travel/lifestyle content, fitness tips, foodie favs, etc. and next thing you know, people are coming to ME for recommendations. It was truly the best feeling knowing that I was able to positively contribute to other people’s lives and is still my number one motivator to continue doing what I am doing today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My content focuses mainly on fitness, health, and holistic wellness but what sets me apart from the rest is the fact that I make a healthy lifestyle FUN, exciting, and easily digestible (wink, wink). With a diet culture encouraging restrictive behavior and false beliefs, I make it my goal to show people how they can meet their fitness goals while achieving a balanced lifestyle and enjoying their favorite sweets! I post primarily on TikTok (@cassidykmetz), Instagram (@cassidykmetz and @cassidymorganfitness), and YouTube (@cassidykmetz).
The launch of my fitness app was probably the most exciting, surreal part of my journey thus far. I put a concerted effort into making my fitness plans easily accessible and affordable for everyone. I believe that everybody should have the opportunity to meet their fitness goals with the proper support and instruction to guide them. Whether it’s helping them meet their fitness goals, becoming comfortable in their body, decide to finally put themselves first, etc. The ultimate reason why I do what I do is so I can leave a positive impact on as many people’s lives. And as long as I’m doing that, I’m living my life’s purpose.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, I can definitely see the fitness industry moving from overly processed supplements, protein bars, and “quick fixes” to a more holistic approach to nutrition. Something interesting that I’ve already began to observe is “supplement stacking” which is combining sports supplements like creatine, with herbal supplements like ashwaganda (my fav!!), to support overall health/longevity. In these upcoming years, the fitness industry is going to stray away for working out for just “body aesthetics”, and shift towards an “exercise is medicine” mentality as its primary focus. This means less high-intensity bootcamps and more low-impact, functional workouts and like pilates and weight training. This will also translate into the “workout recovery” sector, with infared saunas, red light therapy, and mobility stretches on the rise!!!
