Conversations with Cassie Maldonado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassie Maldonado.

Cassie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Being in the fitness industry and training for different kinds of events (marathons, spartan races, crossfit events, etc.) over the years can cause some unfortunate injuries. Some of these injuries will ultimately cause your body to never perform the same again. Rowing has been used as a recovery exercise by physical therapists and athletes for years. Row House has created a way to give you all the benefits of a HIIT style workout, using more than 85% of your muscles in every class. Every exercise is modified to a low impact form which means you can still achieve great results and build muscle without bringing up past injuries or causing more damage. We have partnered up with Concept 2, basing our workouts around their rowing erg in every class. What you think you know about rowing completely changes once you take your first class.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Our Studio, located in the heart of Hillcrest, opened its doors two months before the complete Covid shutdown. I believe this to be the biggest struggle. However, not many people know about our workout or are scared of rowing for 45 min. I can assure you that being in class with a coach, the crew, and the dramatic atmosphere of lights, loud music, and beat drops differs from any rower you have been on at the gym.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
The Row House is a boutique fitness concept that provides 30-45 min workouts and combines resistant training, rowing and stretching. We help people burn calories, improve posture and strengthen the body from head to toe. Our workouts are designed to contain the perfect balance of aerobic endurance and muscular strengthening. We are set apart from other fitness studios by providing a low impact, high-intensity workout that is less prone to injury.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Our members make up more than just classes, they have helped create an amazing community where they are always encouraging each other and spreading the word.
