Conversations with Chancellor Mason

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chancellor Mason.

Hi Chancellor, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I come from a Small town in West Gulfport, Mississippi. Things were not easy growing up, I wasn’t really raised in the best place but my mother and father did the best that they could. I grew up with a love for music and running. I had been running since as early as 3rd grade. I ran track and field and Cross Country. In my late teen life, it was basically the only thing that made me genuinely happy. When I joined the Navy in 2011, I was at a very low place in my life. Me and my family were in homelessness, I was crashing on friend’s couches, some family were willing to help out and some weren’t. So I kind of felt like I had no choice but to find a way out. I went to bootcamp in the wintertime of 2011 and made it out alive!

I came into California on PCS orders when I was stationed onboard Americas Favorite Carrier (USS CARL VINSON)

I graduated high school in 2011. The first four years of my Naval career had many highs for me, whereas the last four years had many lows. Things that I had experienced had started to take a toll on me as to where I felt like the Military was no longer for me. I had served my purpose honorably and decided to Separate in 2019.

One of the highs in the Navy Actually was actually falling in love with fitness and helping others. I actually received an award (Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal) alongside with my best friend and brother Christopher. On a Western Pacific deployment 2014-15, we taught fitness classes and greatly improved the overall fitness level of the ship.

Once I separated, I decided to go to National Personal Training Institute, where I went to school for Personal Training, Performance enhancement, Health and Nutrition, Youth and Senior Fitness and more.

Now I Coach my own bootcamp in the Summertime called ABS and More and I also do online training and 1 on 1 Fitness training.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Suffering from childhood trauma and Military trauma, I was struggling through untreated anxiety and depression.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My philosophy focuses on continual lifelong learning as I work towards enhancing the well-being of my clients by empowering them with the knowledge, skills, support, guidance and resources to assist and inspire them on their journey to a healthier life. Together we will transform your quality of life through active participation in regular fitness activities and the integration of guided fitness programs to make your health goals become a reality in a caring, fun, and dynamic environment.

What are your plans for the future?
Open a small Studio space to teach group fitness.

Get back into music, I would like to be a Country Singer and learn to play Piano and Guitar.
