Today we’d like to introduce you to Chetavious Davis
Hi Chetavious, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my acting career/journey almost 1 year after getting out of the military in 2019. I started taking acting classes in 2020, almost 2 to 3 weeks before COVID. The classes I was taking continued online, and so did I. With a drive to be successful in acting, I continued to network and meet people who helped me get on sets and in front of the camera outside of class. I took every chance I got and looked at it as an opportunity to enhance my career, and it did. Fast forward 5 years, and I’ve been a part of some great films, national commercials, and stage plays. During this time, Obviously, we were all hit with the COVID bug. Being able to survive and thrive, some friends and I decided to create the brand “2 Be Great” to encourage others to do the same, to use our ideas and light to spread positivity and growth to those who follow us or may hear our story.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it has not been a smooth ride. Living in California, you have to deal with the cost of living and pursuing a career that doesn’t pay well initially. I had to deal with the heartbreaking no’s that you get almost on a daily basis and dealing with imposter syndrome. Am I really as talented as people say? Can I get to where I always dreamed of going? Is this possible? All those questions and concerns create doubt and can cause depression when you aren’t getting booked or when you feel like you are going in circles. Although my road has been smoother than most, it’s still rough having to deal with those personal questions and being away from family while trying to do the “impossible.” And doing the impossible is what “2BG” thrives on, but creating a brand also comes with its set of challenges. Like marketing, funding, and honestly, ideas. But we came to the understanding that struggles are going to come with anything that you are doing that’s worthwhile.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an actor and model. I pride myself on being able to capture moments and display them for the camera. I pride myself on taking someone’s ideas and making them reality. I am most proud of my progress in just under five years. I have been on national commercials, filmed internationally, and seen myself on AMC’s big screen, I have walked runways, etc… I have shown people that it is possible to follow your dreams; even though I haven’t gotten to my ultimate goal, people will still look at me and say, “You made it, “even though in my mind, I’m just beginning. The funny thing is most people started following me for my bodybuilding career, and many people know me as the workout dude or fitness guy. But the cool thing is they’ve seen the transition and are even more invested because I switched careers to a “harder” path to break into, and I am making waves. This is the reason for the company and brand “2 Be Great” or (2BG); I started this company with a few friends from the military, aiming to push others “to be great” in whatever they do, to dream big and don’t be afraid to 2 be great.
How do you think about happiness?
Getting up and moving and having a chance to be active makes me happy. Many people can’t, and I feel grateful when I do, whether it’s to the gym, hiking, or jiu-jitsu. Being active gives me a sense of accomplishment and fuels me to get back to work or continue work.
