Conversations with Claire Grix Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Claire Grix

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in France in the Provence region, between the beautiful Mediterranean sea and my grandmother’s vineyard in land.

I have always been an artist, as a child I would draw for hours using plenty of color and my mother would often frame my artwork. We have an artistic blood running in our family. Later in life I would want to redecorate every room I entered and I enjoy doing a lot of DIY and art projects in my spare time.

I started a career in Marketing after earning a Bachelors degree in France, when I moved to London where I met my husband we started to develop properties in France, the UK and then California.

After moving to San Diego and earning a Diploma in Interior Design I decided to devote myself to the Interior design industry and launched my own business in 2022.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Never a smooth road. Moving to San Diego from Europe for my husband’s financial job was already very hard. We rebuilt our entire life, we were alone without friends nor family. As with every culture belongs their own design, I had to adjust myself to feet and inches (from cms and metres) and south California’s more traditional design but I always put my French touch on every project.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am specialized in residential design, I create space where you feel comfortable and cosy in your safe place which is your home. I am more modern/contemporary but as an interior designer I adapt myself to my client and work with them to find what is most suitable and what will define them. I combine aesthetic and functionality. I have this advantage that I grew up in Europe until I was about 25 years old, so I am very influenced by the European design.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I am also an artist and I create and paint. I would love one day to sell my art along with my projects. I think I will need longer days to fit all in one.
